Wow I had no idea most of these performers were all rookies. You guys looked like seasoned vets!! Holy impressive. Watching them last year was really amazing. You are all amazing!

So honored to march in this corps. I'd like to give a shout out to our head drum major Blake Durden. He was THE guy that kept me going and motivated me when the times were rough, and I know for a fact he motivated a lot od people in the same way. Loved him and love the baby blue. 💙
I believe we also need to thank Daniel Burgos for also being a key factor for the success of Spirit of Atlanta in the 2023 season. I would always see him first at rehearsal ready to improve. Running back for sets after a water break. He was a silent motivator and example. Through out the season HIS actions inspired more performers to contribute in living with high standards at all times, including etiquette.
He never complained, never cared much about scores. He had a vision just like many of our staff did. To execute our show the best it could ever be. He cared more about the approach rather than the result.

As a member of Spirit of Atlanta 1979-1984, it's a shame that identity politics has inserted itself into the DCI activity. When I marched, there were black people in our corps. None of us ever brought up race. We were all just human beings and we loved each other for that and that alone. There have never been any "barriers" in DCI, with the exception of financial barriers which can affect anyone. No one was ever excluded based on identity group. None evidence whatsoever. Anyone, and I mean anyone, who was talented enough to make the corps could, and did. No one cared one bit about ones color, sex, religion, or any other aspect about that person. It was your gifts, talents, and attitude, not your identity group. We all have our various struggles and none of our struggles are any more inspiring than anyone else's. Kenya made the corps because she is a very talented drummer, not because she is a black young lady..........or at least I hope that's the case. Diversity in and of itself is a good thing. But when one becomes hyperly obsessed with it, one has to begin using bias and exclusionary tactics to obtain their version of "diversity". It creates discrimination based one's identity groups and where they place in the hierarchy. DEI can not function without discrimination. Otherwise, why is race, sex, and sexual orientation so obsessed about? These phantom barriers you speak of are only used as a rationalization to be discriminatory yourselves. So this is a very damaging ideology to have young people be a part of, seeing everyone based on their skin color instead of them as a human being and nothing more. Fortunately, many colleges (such as the University of North Carolina) have dropped its DEI programs because of the social damage that it has caused. It's sad to see that DCI, and in this case my beloved Spirit of Atlanta, has now delved into a political dogma that is ripping our nation to shreds and has become a political action organization that treats their members as either perpetual victims or perpetual villans based on skin color.

What "barriers" did Kenya break? Im sorry but why are you making her seem like a victim of racism when to my knowledge DCI has been very welcoming. (Nothing against Kenya, she seems like a great person, but the sob story from the narator isnt sitting right with me)
