Did you say you trim the extra fabric off after it's been gathered. I couldn't hear it well enough. Also I'm not sure I heard the fabric measurements well enough either. You made a beautiful auto-gele & I also love that fabric. Thank you for sharing.

If I am not mistaking, Length of a fabric/material is considered the height(how long), while breadth is considered the width (wideness).Now for sagoe gele, the width is the part you place on your head to tie, while the two ends that forms the hand is the length. So you description should be 80" wide and 18" long.
