One thing I've noticed is that Lapras has a very short auto-attack range. It's a bit weird at first if you're used to Slowbro or Blastoise.
Also I think black emblems are underrated on Lapras. Often you can't use 4 auto-attacks between water pulses anyway because you get stunned or lack range.
And lower cooldowns also mean more bubbles, which means more CC and more shields.
I think black emblems could be better than white when you have a heal in your team also : less max life = Shell amor trigger easier. More shield thanks too black emblems as you said.
And paired to a healer that have CC like eldegoss or comfey I had nice results (in soloq at least)

Been playing some double stacking with focus band. The spoon is good, but having a cookie just makes you so tanky, increasing your health pool and effectively increasing your Hp regen since it’s max%hp based. The extra 1440 hp turns out to be about an extra 130hp healing per boosted auto, which in the long run goes a long way!
Yup, I rotate between Specs, Spoon, and cookie. Or Specs, band, and cookie
I was wondering if having too much extra hp could affect Lapras passive activation. Would you recommend using cookie?
@@estebanarias5558 I see what you’re point is. A higher max hp would increase the ceiling for the damage reduction of shell armor, so you might end up taking more damage from certain mons that are in that sweet spot. But at the end of the day you still have that extra hp and it will also heal you more as well.

@@estebanarias5558 well the math is very easy. The cookie in total provides 1200 hp when fully stacked and 240 baseline for 1440 extra total hp. 10% of that is 144, so it increases your shell armor threshold by 144. But I really can’t see this being a very bad thing. Not only are you getting more hp which is just going to naturally happen as the match goes on, you’re sustain will increase as well since your healing is based on your max hp. I do get what you’re saying with that extra small window of damage no longer being motivated by 25%, which could make a difference. But then why wouldn’t you just not take white emblems or hp items at all anymore? It’s a weird argument to have imo.
I guess it equates to, will those missed 25% damage reductions over the total of my hp, add up to more that 1440, also this has to happen before your opponent dies as well, which will again take longer.
I love lapras but it's shame to have back to back 2 defenders that feels more likes all rounders after waiting one year
I'm DYING for a true "raise teams defense" "tanks hits and reduces damage on allies" stuff on a defender, it always seems that everyone is slugging it out in the same manner.

@@CronoXpono Yeah, something like Trevenant being able to use Pain Split on an ally so it splits the damage to them onto Trev.
For sure... Imo, would like to see Defenders move more in the direction of map-wide control and base/ally defense. Seem these days like glorified All-Rounders/Supports combined. Umbreon will seriously blind those lines even further.

Lapras is so broken, I like to do a combo to win fights: Unite Wave > Water Pulse > Boosted > Bubble Beam, long stun, and does a lot of damage, you can get 1 or 2 people and win the fight from there, you have a huge shield so you just keep going.

Honestly I think water pulse is a better move except until you get Perish Song + just because the healing is insane and the execute comes in handy for big team fights
Go Perish song against tankier opposition for the execute. To reach level 11, half of your game would be done by then.
perish song is better if you have burst damage attackers on your team fighting with you
Still experimenting for what I like most but I find if you don't care for stacking then Ice Beam can be a really nice option since its scaling isn't great.
I almost always go Water Pulse but whenever I just want to have more fun or I'm against very tanky mons I go with Perish Song. Getting executes with it are always so satisfying! Feel like Muscle band, Focus band and Spoon to be very consistent w/ all of Lapras' moves

no rapid fire scarf doesnt do much since u have enough attack speed to get one boosted in between pulses so more attackspeed doenst matter

a good reason to use the lapras bonk is that the teammates you ferry around will be closer to the target you hit its useful for melee mons.

Ahh I didn't pick up just how important the boosted auto was, or that water pulse gave you one. Surprising Perish Song isnt better given how many boosted autos it gives you at level 11. I'm just glad Ice Beam isnt a massive throw compared to Bubble Beam.
Cris I played lapras and I have been winning with high damage numbers I go amp shell bell and focus with 7 black and 6 green I can keep using water pulse over and over again I love lapars

I like Water Pulse a lot but I absolutely love Bubble Beam it saved my ass so many times already 😂
I wonder if you're using ice beam if it's good to use it right after you knock the enemies up with the unite wave, because by the time they land back down they've been in the ice long enough to get frozen.
Also, I find if I'm able to, securing lane farm is pretty good if I can use ice shard to freeze the opposing pokemon while whirlpool finishes the farm.
Hello, I play Lapras and yes, that’s a killer move, use unite then land on the enemies with an ice beam shot, when they land they get frozen and then you just erase them with perish song, Lapras is very versatile tbh I don’t use it like this video but I guess it works too
I use cookie, specs
& spoon with either cooldown or hp emblems.
If not sp atk specs, could rapid scarf be a potential substitute?
if not using specs then spoon would be a sub because both of those relate to special attack. whereas scarf is just focused on basic attack
is this move like venasaur's gigadran which u have to press

Unfortunate cuz i love Ice Beam but Bubblebeam has more value. Ice Beam can deal much more dmg when setup well and its freeze is solid, but Bubble gets a similar stun instantly AND grants a solid shield as a tradeoff for dmg. If enemies move out of Ice beam quick enough it can end up dealing less dmg than Bubble too. I wouldnt say bubble beam needs a nerf, but ice beam could use a little something to bring it in line. Maybe make the freeze a tad longer? Or make it freeze faster? Something like it
Perish song is fine tho, more often than not water pulse is the play but for tanky teams that dont mind playing low health as much, the execute is very clutch. Pulse has lower CD and feels smoother to play tho, but i wouldnt change either

You can do moves, autos, and ult on Lapras
Can get some pretty funny combos like Lapras + cramorant ult

No drain crown doesn't work on the boosted auto attacks since they deal special damage

Cris, I know you don't care for playing XP share, but what do you think the best build is for Lapras with XP share? XPS, muscle, spoon? Or XP, muscle, sp. specs?
i doubt you might care for another input that isn't cris but, spoon makes it so that you dont have to try to stack special attack (i personally stack with cookie) if you want faster basic attacks maybe try rapid fire scarf

i feel like green and black is better for lapras, the less HP you have the easier it is for opponents to reach 10% of your max HP with their attacks, and so the easier it is for your passive to activate and reduce incoming damage by 25%
I feel like maybe making it more bulky is wasted stats like imagine you take 9.8% damage from an attack and if you didn't have white emblems, that would have been 10.2% and thus reduced to 7.51%,
