  • Words set a tone. They voice our thoughts, feelings, and experiences, for good or bad.
Elder Ronald A. Rasband speaks at the 194th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held on April 6-7, 2024.

You know when you feel that a talk is specifically for you? This was one of those for me. I felt this deep in my soul. Thank you, Elder Rasband.

When I was a young teenager I was working with my oldest brother and I thought I was doing a really good job and being thorough. I wanted his approval. He said to me "Timothy, you are inherently slow." Wow that hurt. Was I slow? Those words got inside my head and forty years later I still wonder if I am slow. If it had been anyone else I could have easily forgotten all about that. But I can still hear his words today.

what a good reminder of what we should be saying and doing as disciples of Jesus. May i always strive to speak with the tongue of angels as Christ would do.

It is essential that all scriptures of God be explained in as many languages as are available.

If we think Celestial, we can have true abiding hope that no matter how difficult things can be here in mortality, everything that truly matters will eventually work out. This is only possible because of Jesus Christ, and his great love for each of us individually!

I thought this was a very good talk. You know, “I’m sorry” and “I love you” are in my mind what sets Christianity apart from other cultures. These simple, yet powerful phrases are not emphasized as much elsewhere.
For example, in many traditional East Asian countries, “thank you” and “excuse me” are emphasized to a greater extent, relatively speaking, while “I love you” is not said aloud as often and expressed more through actions and not words. When Christians readily say “I love you” and “I’m sorry” it is often refreshing and endearing to people who are not as used to people talking in this manner.
“I’m sorry” and “I love you” are the distinctive watch words of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Words do matter, and it is these phrases on which the community of Christ is built. Nice message Elder Rasband 👍

      Hi Amber,
No pressure, but I would love to see you in our chapel! You are so loved by Father in Heaven, and are so very important to him! I wasn't always active in the gospel of Jesus Christ, but after a while of being away from God, one day I felt like I should be at church. After I started to come back fully, I realized I didn't feel chastised that I had been away from Christ, but like the lost son in the story of the prodigal son, I felt like God was giving me a big hug! I promise you that if you pray to God daily, read a little bit of the Book of Mormon daily, and just keep trying to go to church, even if it's just to hear a talk or two, you will be greatly blessed. The key here is being consistent in going to church every week.
If you form a habit of going to church or feel ready, you can include going to Sunday school. If you feel overwhelmed, and leave church early sometimes, don't be hard on yourself, just keep trying.
      God bless you always!

I’ve always followed the Prophet; but when Covid policy coordinates his talking points; I was NOT following; “Safe & Effective” was NOT God’s words; I’ve been patiently waiting for the words “I’m sorry” to show up in an op-ed photo-shoot with him. I want to believe he was blind-sided by bigPharma & MSM; so very many were; and too many are dead or battling cancers!
