Great video Finbol! im from Slovakia .. I consider Hungary as my second home :) I live close to hungarian borders and i have family there. In my city Nove Zamky majority of people speak hungarian language and slovakian. It whould not be a suprise to you if i say, after the end of socialism here the Mindszenty mindset was sort of rehabilitated... There was a proposal from hungarian party in slovakia to reclaim the old Austro-Hungarian lands... Now Im born as a Slovakian my native language is slovak, however I still have a bond with the Hungary culturally and otherwise.. Despite of that I consider this as WTF moment ... This was an issue years ago.. but still ... It only shows how the capitalism tends to rehabilitate old harmful ideologies bringing back fascism and old regimes... Just look at Mr. Orban .. and his dictatorship... :) Anyway I really really thank you for these series. Keep up the good work!
When I was younger, in Slovenia I used to attend hungan lessons for the Hungarian diaspora and even as a kid/teenager the rightward drift especially during the 2010s was impossible to ignore like a hard drift from just grammar and hanging out towards culture and Hungarian values shit and they used to organise these camps/exchanges with Hungarian native speaking kids once we went to felvidek (the Hungarian name for the part of Slovakia bordering Hungary now) to marcelhaz/marcelovo near komarom/komarno. And I still remember the blatant territorial ambition of the Hungarian population there like some village had a map of greater Hungary explicitly showing how this village part of Slovakia should have always been Hungary and the organiser kept repeating to us how much territory Hungary lost

Economically (and although all their verbiage against "finance capital" is a pure sham) the Fidesz and other European parties of the same cluster are further to the left than the social democrats of many of these countries.
Playing Hungarian Rhapsody whilst reading out Mindszenty's testimony was an enlightened choice! The comical and flamboyant score is a perfect fit for the Cardinal who is so cartoonishly reactionary that, were it not for the very real severity of his crimes, one would think he was a mocking parody of clerical fascists.
A close friend of mine told me I can’t throw arond the phrase ‘fascist’. I was shocked because I only described the US, and Hungary as such. Bro, Hungarians literally celebrate Mindszenty. Also look at Trump, lol (also I used ‘fascistic’, which is an understatement).
at 17:40 you say "Hídverők" wich in literal translation means bringe beaters so the ones who brake bridges you accidentally translate it as bridge builders wich would be hídépítők
Another book also translates “Eljen Gerö-Hidverő“ as "Long Live Gero the Bridge Builder", so I'm guessing the meaning is correct even if its not literal.

Did you watch BadMouse’s last video over the term “Tankie”? There he goes to say that what Herbert Aptheker stated in his book was proven false by other communists, that basically it wasn’t an uprising leaded by fascists. Are you going to deal with this in a coming video?
I haven't watched it but actually its the opposite. Aptheker is correct about the uprising but he's wrong about the causes of it. Aptheker blames "stalinist mistakes" when in reality it was caused by revisionists. I think BadMouse cited Peter Fryer's "Hungarian Tragedy" which is an extremely bad source. Fryer is a trotskyist who cites no proof for any of his claims. He claims to have been an eye-witness to the uprising, but 1) even his own statements imply the anti-communist and fascist nature of the uprising 2) there are so many anachronisms in his statements that I seriously think he never actually traveled to Budapest like he claims, but only stayed near the Austrian border.

Can all in left-YT please start educating people about both: (1) the difference between right-authoritarian vs. right-libertarian; & (2) the difference between left-authoritarian vs left-libertarian? It’s long overdue. People aren’t cattle or sheep: They will understand if we educate them. Though we need to educate (& learn) about all the nuance.
