    I know the lenght of wires can be a nightmare for the bandwidth specs of the probe, but, this types of leads is what do you need when you are testing big and high voltage equipment (for example very big industrial inverters)

    These 100MHz for ~140 bucks differential probes have 1:50 or higher attenuation, which is too much for lower voltage.
    I would love to see a hobbyist affordable 1:10 differential probe. Any ideas?

    What is told at 2:25: should you connect your oscilloscope and the circuit under examination to same common ground or left them both floating, otherwise you can discharge floating common of circuit via the grounded common of the oscilloscope if the difference exceeds 1000V (or versa)?

    Thank you.. finally someone I believe is honest to review the MICSIG. Although too late for me, I bought used broken Tektronik P5200. I fixed it and works ok I think. But it shows some ringing only on a Square Waveform at higher frequencies.

    • @sdgelectronics
      @sdgelectronics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ringing may be that the compensation needs adjustment or a side effect of the way the circuit is being probed - the leads act like inductors

    Thanks for a painless and informative review. You didn't drive me crazy, which is more than I can say for some other presenters. How high frequency can you go before you see amplitude aberration (on a sine wave) or ringing artifacts (on a square)? How small a signal is practical to measure before noise becomes a factor? I bet the input leads aren't the only obstacle to real HF measurement - it looks like the output line to the scope is not the special stuff with resistance wire in the center that's used in every self-respecting high-impedance passive probe. If I recall correctly, plain coax to a 1Meg load is useless by about 10MHz because of improper termination.

    Before I buy this probe I would like to know what the maximum input voltage derating curve looks like to make sure I don’t damage the probe when testing circuits running at 500KHz and higher. Is the derating curve available anywhere?

    There is no problem with leaking batteries if you use low self-discharge rechargeable batteries, like Eneloops, I use them everywhere.

    • @sdgelectronics
      @sdgelectronics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had eneloop batteries in some flash guns, but there was a small amount of parasitic power draw which flattened them over about 6 months. The batteries won't accept charge anymore so I gave up on those

    Nice. Just ordered the two. :) I was looking to get one for years, and considered other probes, but I really need one now, and DP10013 I think is both great value and good overall product in terms of performance and features.

    How did you manage to open this probe? I need to replace the output cable, and I don't know if there are some hidden screws there? Or is it glued?

    Nice review. Will you tested the most important spec, common mode rejection (at several frequencies) ? If that is bad it makes the probe more or less useless. I have one from Pico. I compared it with the Fluke from a friend (they look very similar) and they performed the same. But some DIY and cheap iso amps performed not great. Even some Tek plugins from 500 and 7000 serie scopes where not that great other as audio frequencies. But they are old so probably some alignment will improve things but I do not use those scopes for my work, they are just collectibles. These probes are indeed very handy and this is very cheap for a 100 MHz. I have one almost always connected to my main scope (and I always use an isolation transformer) My Pico is 20x and 200x. Be carefull, there are 10x and 100x probes, and for Europe that is a bit low.

    Little late to "this" party... but excellent video no matter. I WAS THRILLED to hear you (anyone!) state the (obvious) conundrum with these/this device being rated at 100mhz but at the same time have ~18"'s of dangly leads as inputs. This has always confused me [until] your video. I'm not going crazy 🤓 (yet). Thanks so much ❤

    What does an Differential Probe do ? Does it measure the measure the difference between Live and Neutral ?, just like a RCD ? In which case --- would it work using a I/T on the test piece ? Obviously, I am not an electrical engineer.

    • @sdgelectronics
      @sdgelectronics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It measures between the two probes, but crucially both probes are floating rather than a normal probe where the ground lead is connected to mains earth
