when we talk about soul music we talk about motown Philly , Memphis but after hearing how Billy worked with the Dells and so many greats we should never leave out the windy city so much history thanks so much
Billy Stewart, a fantastic vocalist, beautiful singer, I loved his unique style of singing! He sang beautiful songs! God Bless you for your great presentation of this fantastic artist! Sincerely Maria😃👏🏻
My older brother was a big fan of Billy Stewart and sang Billy's songs around the house so much I although 6 years younger than my brother became a Billy Stewart fan as well. I would go on to introduce my own children to the great Billy Stewart. To me he was one of the greatest singer-musicians of my childhood. Imagine recording with the Dells and the great Maurice White, being DC homies with Marvin Gaye, matches of greatness only from heaven. Wow!!. RIP Billy Stewart thank you for all your great music.
These songs "I Do Love You", "Sitting In The Park", and "Summertime" bring back so many memories! Music was good, and passion was in the air! Pretty lil' darlin' I said I love you so right now, never, never, never, gonna forget you Billy!
Phenomenal singer. I am a fan also of the late Phillipe Wynne. For years I wonder, who does he remind me of, then it came to me: The great Billy Stewart. Rip.
Billy was the man! I had no idea he died in a car accident at such a young age. How sad. Thanks for all the great gifts of your voice and music! Cheers!
Awesomely brilliant Billy Stewart was an unbelievable performer with genuis of lyrics. Talent that had no end to it .. it just erupts in your soul, happily and hauntingly!!! Only one Billy Stewart!!!!!
i will always love Billy Stewart....he has been my favorite since 1969 when i was first introduced to his music...and yes i still listen today...your music will never die. I DO LOVE YOU BILLY
Awesomely brilliant Billy Stewart was an unbelievable performer with genuis of lyrics. Talent that had no end to it .. it just erupted in your soul, happily and hauntingly!!! Only one Billy Stewart!!!!!
Growing up I didn't know this artist " I knew the songs because other groups would sing them " some of my favorite songs ever . Then to finally realize who wrote and sang these songs " was amazing to me and he sang them even more powerful . So now I have a greater appreciation for the man and the songs he sang .
Saw Billy with his big band in Philly at the Nixon Theater. He was one of the most unique singers I’ve ever heard. The show was incredible! Billy Bomaye ❤️
Amazing work and great storytelling. I really really enjoyed both of these videos and listening to them felt like an radio show that takes you back to the golden era of music. I’m looking forward to watching more videos on other artists.
Hello Chance B. This was a BRILLIANT documentary and tribute to one of my hometown's legendary artists Billy Stuart. I grew up as a little girl with his music 🎶 and so many other legends in records bought and played by my parents. I learned so much more about Billy and his amazing vocal style of singing. Keep up the great work on tributes to other artists. I appreciate you uploading these series. I now own his music 🎶 and may he continue to RIP. I'm now a subscriber and will continue to support you.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️
I love Billy Stewart.. my favorite songs of his.,, look back and smile.. I'm glad that someone has done these soul facts.. I learned a lot more about the man Billy Stewart
Mike, Just came across this post. Thanks for keeping Billy's magic alive, and providing the context. He was one of the greats. Very nicely done, Chancellor.
I so appreciate how you bring back the memories of forgotten artist. Thank you so much. Please, continue in this work. I love your production value, your research, and your narration.
thanks so much Mr. Boon just came across. The amazeing stories on the greats voices of R&B Billy S. was extremely talented and greatly missed we must never forget. PLEASE!!!! keep their stories coming.
Billy was never underrated. He got tons of air time and people loved him all over the United States. Billys music even reached our troops in Viet Nam. His music has been covered many times, but cannot be reproduced. His style was unique. Love you still Billy.
Sadly, I think that his legacy (or memory) is underrated ...you hardly hear him mentioned in VH1 soul music specials, tributes, etc., and most younger generations (even many Gen X-ers) don't know of him, even if they've heard some of the song covers
Thank you for taking your time to school is on these legandary artist that alot forget about or don't know about. It's important for us to know about the artist that made the artist we listen to now. Thank you.
It should be note that a 1974 album titled "Cross My Heart" (Chess 50059) featured several Singles not included on any of his original albums along with Unreleased recordings! This album is well worth seeking out. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a Box Set of Billy Stewart Complete Chess Recordings??? There is enough material for a 3 or 4 CD box!!!
What great talents you showcase chance, and thanks Billy. It’s so strange how their is very little love in todays music, I mean the kinda love Billy put into his music. I’d sure like to see a show on Johnny “Guitar” Watson, he was one of my favorite performers back in the day.
Here's what you don't know.....while the original case was indeed brought on by Billy's wife....BUT....after numerous trials, one of which was almost in the juries hands, was ruled a mistrial due to a juror giving billy jr, a little boy at the time, a quarter..The bailiff saw this, reported it to the judge, who declared a mistrial....The date was reset for another trial, and Ford won....It was at this point that Sophia Rich, the wife of the man sitting in the front seat with Billy, and his band leader, Norman Rich took over...She hired a lawyer, Mr. Sachs, from New York, who represented the families in the following trial. He put both of Mr. Rich's sons, who were 8, and 13, at the time of the accident, on the stand, so that the jurors could see what Mr. Rich left behind....and this time, the families won...not in the late 70's, but early to mid......I know this, because Norman Rich was my father...i was the 8 year old mentioned before.

It would have been cool if at the end you mentioned some of the artists that have made great music by sampling his music, Jay electronica, slick Rick, ghostface killa and Jay Cole to name a few. These are people that are helping a new generation connect to this legendary artist. Anyway, keep up the great work brother.
I remember buying the old standards new tricks album when it came out after seeing it in Dave Godin's Blues & Soul Magazine. Still have it after 50 years, favourite track is Exodus. Billy had an outstanding voice and would have gone far in the UK soul market
