  • If your powerchair controller starts beeping, it's a sign that there is something wrong with your chair. BUT, before you you call a repair service, try this. It may work and you'd be saving hundreds of dollars. This video is specific to the PG Drive VR2 Joystick BUT a similar technique would work for other joysticks as well.

    A potentially simple fix for a simple problem. Bit to fiddley for me to attempt, but a huge thank you!

    In my iCarbon Style, the controller has a deep recess which I plugged with BlueTack, cut the noise right down to an acceptable level.

      I don’t know which make and model you have, so I can not give you the detailed procedure. But what you must do is: (1) turn powerchair off (2) disconnect one of the two batteries (3) leave the battery disconnected for 5 minutes (4) reconnect the battery. This should power cycle the chair. TIP: While the battery is disconnected, you may want to consider cleaning the battery terminal. Confused? Ask me!

    I have a question. For a while I have a problem with my joystick, so I don't know is it electric or mechanical problem. The thing is: when is push my joystick in any direction, on my left motor it seems the brake just don't release 100%, it stuck on the half way. Right motor works well. So I don't know is there some problem with joystick, wires, mechanical stuff? Or just there is a dirt under the joystick cover or connectors maybe? And yeah, joystick get warm a little bit sometimes in that condition, not too much.

    • @VelikoBekir
      @VelikoBekir  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not an easily answerable question, not much different from asking an auto mechanic what’s the problem with the car without having him inspect the car. Having said that, how handy are you? The first thing I’d try is cleaning the contacts on the printed circuit board of the joystick, as detailed in the video. If the contacts are really dirty, the button contact pads may be causing an ever-so-slight connection to an adjoining button; hence a bit of warming due to the “short circuit”. Let me know how it goes. BTW: Dirty" in this article means that the rubber pad becomes sticky an has a melted appearance.

    But what was the symptom? Just beeping?

    • @VelikoBekir
      @VelikoBekir  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! You’re the first to ask this! So, the beeping could be MANY things and if anyone is worried or wants to know exactly why it’s beeping, obviously have a qualified person look at it….. but good luck on getting someone to your house, or finding a place to take the chair to, aaaannnnnd, the cost of just having someone look at it. Here’s an analogy I use: As you may already figure out that whenever a “warning” light or beep comes on the dash of your car, 90% of the time it’s not a real problem but rather the sensor that’s supposed to “report” the problem, went bad. The other 10% may actually be reporting a problem. In my case, for this video, the keypad was dirty. And last month (September 2022, a year after this video), it started beeping again BUT ONLY under these circumstances: moving from different ambient temperatures, it not only beeps, but goes into the s-l-o-w mode. Once the chair acclimates to the current temp, it stops beeping, stops, flashing, and everything is back to normal. Must be some temperature sensor built into the board - just like a car. If anyone can she more info on this, please post it.

      Personal message me a picture of the joystick, or post the model of it here. The model should be on a sticker on the bottom.
