Don’t let the spiders put you off, it’s not like encountering dangerous animals is going to be a part of everyday life here unless you’re roughing it out in the bush. Australian spiders don’t really stand out much in terms of both size and danger. It’s almost entirely media hype. Yeah my family on my dad's side lives in Sydney and barely any of them have ever seen a funnel-web. I briefly lived in Sydney before moving to Cairns and, later, Brisbane, and never saw any funnel-webs until I was in Queensland.
Grew up in Wollongong, found a few funnel webs in Jamberoo, Dunmore and West dapto/Albion Park. Gosford Reptile Park came down to my local Archery Range collect them for their venom program once, they set aside a weekend to collect. They maxed out in that afternoon!😂.
They vary a fair bit. None are “aggressive” per se, in that they only ever bite when threatened, but some are definitely more inclined to get defensive than others.

I get where you’re coming from, but I plainly stated that funnel-webs are medically significant and do possess the ability to kill a person.
