    Servus, great to see there are more CRT enjoyers in Austria. I'm from Styria and currently have over 30 Tubes in my collection. From 0.5 all the way to 32 inches and even a CRT Projector. I wish you a lot of fun with your Tube, and from how much you love it, I can already see, you are a fellow collector in the making. My favorites are my 32 inch massive B&O Avant 32, my Sony KV14CT1E (which has built in RGB shift) and my Sony G200 PC monitor, that sees almost daily use.

    I own the same CRT now. It's just having a beautiful image quality. I love it. I got it as well for free in Germany. Mine is luckily black so it looks still awesome ;)

    If you want to play modern system on CRT, then you'll need a CRT VGA monitor. CRT TVs and monitors are two different beasts. TVs had a 15khz Horizontal rate so It can only play 240p at 60hz (or 288p at 50hz if you live in Europe). On the other way, crt monitors had very higher horizontal rages and they can go up to 1440p

    These baby Sony's do have a service menu. Also I found out you can toggle the AV-input button twice, then it shows "RGB" in the green logo, and that shifts the image about 1cm to the right.
    To get into the service menu, it might be a different order, but I believe it is this: turn OFF the tv with the remote so it is standby. Now press INFO (the screen with an i in it), then 5, then volume UP and then the Tube symbol without anything in it. That should bring any Sony TV into service mode. I've a similar looking black 1995 KV-M1450D, and it works for that model.

    Hello there! I recently found this channel and I really enjoy your content. Loved this video. I have a few CRT’s myself. What I would like to know is how do you film your crt? I have tried with my Iphone and all the videos and pictures come with bars and lines covering the image.

    • @littlemodshop
      @littlemodshop 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Awesome thank you for sticking around. :)
      For filming a crt you first need to know if your crt is running 50/60hz. Then adjust your iphone accordingly to 25/30 fps. Use the free blackmagic cam app to get full control over shutterspeed of your iphone and set it to 1/50 or 1/60. Then you might need to compensate by getting the ISO down or up, depending on how the footage looks. It seems complicated at first but all in all its a quick setup. I have some bars in my videos too because i film all my videos in 30fps and my crt runs on 50hz. There is virtually nothing i can do to counter this problem without choosing different settings in camera. Hope that helps. :)

    Hi, i have a CRT with the same problem as yours (no service menu). Where did you get that shifter of yours? And that trinitron looks awesome.

      I’ve got it from someone in the circuit-board.de forum. I got a good price on it and it was local build. There are some on aliexpress too, but the price is like 3x what i paid for. 💀

    What I miss is the bend you got from the screen, it was an extra dimension. I have had some emulators that have simulated this, but they are unfortuannly not many. The other thing is the blurryness, which the game was made for. People talking about HD upscaling, but actually removes the original intended effect.

    I'm gen Z and grew up poor. I played my Xbox 360 on a CRT until 2013. The only reason I even had a 360 is because we won a local giveaway the community center did in our town.

    If they could make a new modern CRT that didn't weigh a ton, or suck up electrticity and kick out so much heat and that high pitched whine, I'd absolutely be on board

      A CRT that gets hot and sucks energy? What weed are you smoking? These TV's are pretty energy efficient. A 14 inch like the one in this video does like 30-40W, and a 20 inch maybe 40-50. It's no plasma!

      Best is to not search for Sony. Just make an automated search within say 10km for "tube TV small". Our classifieds website has a category "vintage TV", if you make a search within short distance in such a category, and set a max price of say 20€, you should be able to find a good Sony within a couple of weeks.
