I think the flavor most commonly reffered to as just "Cotton Candy" is usually actually "Strawberry Flavored Cotton Candy". Which would match fairly well with the expections of the color pink. This is at least the trend I see in other types of candies, so I'm assuming it's simular for ice cream.
