When I first heard the drums of this band I was big on cyclic rhythms of Hawkwind and the Fall, and of course Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth, and Yo la Tengo - then I heard the Ex - those drums were continuously the best I'd heard - restrained but always interesting - and so musical
One of the greatest bands ever!! Great live! Pleasure seeing them! Thanks for the opportunity! Thank you for the albums and for your autographs!:)! Much love MILWAUKEE WI USA , Joe Van Roo, Holland horticultural solutions LLC.
In 1993, I had one of the greatest strange attractor serendipitous moments of fortune: I found a copy of your collaboration with Tom Cora, "And The Weathermen Shrug Their Shoulders" without the sleeve for $0.50 in a clearance bin in a Church Street, Burlington, Vermont music store. Without a tape sleeve, I had no context or information. I think it took at least until 1995 when I found your cds available at Meridian music in Brattleboro... there was hardly any nternet to search or find music in those days. I was able to catch you live once at the Middle East club, one of my favorite musical experiences. Sadly, where I live, in the middle of the woods, I never meet other fans, but I was blessed with a child that agrees Katherina Bornefeld is the best favorite drummer period. Full stop. Of course, each and every current and former member of the ex are a pool of the most creative and true freespirited unfettered expressive artists giving it their utmost. All in all, your voyage of musical exploration is a great asset for global human culture. Thank you for reaching me and changing my life from so very afar.
fantastic band that just keeps getting better after 40 years! first discovered them in 1985, got to see them in 1991? at klub kommotion in san francisco. also loved the dog faced hermans And was delighted when andy from the hermans joined up with the ex!
I love this band so much. I feel sorry for myself that I only discovered them in 2018! Absolute class demonstrated by all. And live they are a force. Non stop dance fest!
I can foresee it’s time to leave town I can really foresee that this town will go down I foresee we’re all going to drown Soon all cities will have the same restaurants Soon all cities will have the same roundabouts Soon all cities will have the same governments Soon all cities will have the same accidents Soon all cities will have the same monuments Towns and villages will have the same oxidants Soon all cities will have the same roundabouts Soon all cities will have the same accidents I can foresee it’s time to leave town I can foresee it’s time to leave town I can really foresee that this town will go down I foresee we’re all going to drown
Un papier dans Libé de ce jour 18 avril 2020 où je découvre The Ex. J'écoute State of Shock. Impressionnant... Un morceau qui me renvoie à The Dog faced Hermans... Sur le cul!!!! Merci et bravo!
Epic! Those vintage Premier drums sound magnificent - as does the rest of the band, by the way... but what a drumsound & drum beat! On the whole a great song and dito performance... goose bumps all over! Dank jullie wel, The Ex, voor 4 decennia lang muziek van wereldklasse formaat...
This city will drown has a kind of double meaning for a band from a city 6 meter below sea level in the time of consummerism-globalisation and climate change.
In my city, Pelotas (BRA), we have the oldest football stadium in the country, and this week, they tore down part of the stadium to build a BOBs fast food branch, like there's no history in those walls, just to build another fucking generic fast food restaurants. So it's inevitable not to come back to this song
:D desde o primeiro momento em que escutei esta banda... nunca mais fui capaz de parar de ouvir... se ha "banda sonora" que ilustra bem a minha vida... é esta :D força!
The Ex is by far my favorite band and has been for decades now.

I saw this band almost 20 years ago at the Overton straat. One the best live shows I have ever seen. Awesome music.
