I own this speaker and i have tested Boombox 2 as well. This Sony XG500 has up to 80 watts of power when playing on max volume with Equalizer settings on top and lights on. JBL Boombox 2 has 80 Watts when plugged in and 60 watts when using in battery mode. Boombox has louder highs and sounds crispier and more open, the Sony has more bass. I prefer Sony because of the bass and better sound outside.
So I recently purchased this speaker, and the sound is amazing, but the mid tones have to be adjusted with your phone settings and app. But is seems to me that Sony did this purposely. Now when I paired this speaker to the XB43, the sound is epic and flawless. You get the clear midtones from the XB43 and the deep, deep bass and acoustics from the XG500, and it sound is like being at a concert. I feel that they did this purposely for the party connect, and it works. If you have the side to side setting on your phone, it sounds much better that the wide surround sound also.
The a question I have too. I think boom box 3 might have better bass and sound. It doesn't have many features tho and the difference would be very minor. I have no idea tho as I've never heard the boom box 3 but I do have the sony xg500. They are my favourite portable speaker for the next 5-10 years.

I’m trying to connect my microphone to the speaker but when I plug it in the microphone picks up nothing, does anyone have any suggestions or knows why it’s not working ? Please let me know would be very helpful
Depends how long you play it lol if you play track after track at maximum probably a few hours. Mine goes for a few days before it runs out. But I don't listen at max, do not need to listen I max. I could but my neighbour would not be happy. This speaker is powerful. Inside the apartment you don't need more than 50% volume
The sony is larger than the JBL boombox 2, yet weighs 1 pound less. And to my ear, there's a cleaner sound on the JBL. I also own the UE hyperboom and that has a cleaner more detailed sound than both of them.
we just bought one of these to listen to by the pool. Honestly, it sounds muddy on every setting. Dont know what I was thinking, any 6" cone will. Sending back this weekend.

I love bass and honestly, the XG500 is just a bass monster.

It changes the sound in the xb43 with the mega bass of the xg500, or the xb43 sound the same?

nice speaker ...im still using my megaboom its almost 6 years old, battery capacity down a bit but still a very good speaker.

The hyperboom has a carry handle and carries quite easily.
