  • Fima Chesnin came of age in pre-War Vilna (Vilnius), survived the War by escaping to the USSR, and eventually came to LA and became an architect. He was a key individual in the Yiddish-speaking community in LA. He taught Yiddish to kids and adults alike, for years heading up an integral Yiddish leyenkrayz (reading circle), where he was much beloved for his rich knowledge of the Yiddish language.
