so true, thats probably what makes the pixies great no one steals the limelight there all doing there part like joey dosent just do a big ostentatious solo in the middle of the song cause he's not done much in the song. they really have a great sense of music and complementing each other.
He’s probably the most underrated drummer ever. I don’t say that lightly. He’s incredibly inventive with his drum parts but he’s also always in the pocket. People always talk about Frank and Kim, even Joey’s guitar playing, but no one ever mentions David’s drumming. Its totally essential to the band. I think Steve Albini is the only person I can recall saying something positive
was listening to them 4years later though, that was my introduction, on a good old cassette tape dub/compilation from my older sister's guitar playing & short-lived boyfriend ;)
Just look at how freakin' crazy the crowd is going as Nimrod's Son starts (literally the second song of the set). This is like the first time any of these people saw this band before. Wild.
@@rupowell2821 But I find this particular performance a real standout for the band - far better than the record and so tight that it could be put down on vinyl.
@@brandall101 it was recorded well for a live concert in the 80s..but the pixies were always phenomenal live. They had a great emphasis on practice and rehearsals behind the scenes. They were unbelievably tight here! Class act
I saw them for the first time in Spokane around 2013 and while it was a damn solid night, I am eternally grateful that dedicated people took the time to capture these incredible moments during the band's peak. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't get a whole lot better than this.
What an amazing band. One of the most unique which is why I fell in love them immediately. Violent Femmes, Devo, and the Pixies are my holy trinity.. with a dash of Rod Stewart, naturally
These guys are just so fucking cool. Frank's perfect screeching and Kim's sexiness are just too much to handle. AND THOSE LYRICS. THAT GUITAR. DAT BASS. UGH.
@beingggggg Was wondering about the one thumbs down: are men no longer permitted to find women, talented or whatever, attractive nowadays? I'm now an elderly & happily married man, but the aforementioned lady bassists informed my youth & I appreciated their talent & good looks. Was I supposed to ignore them? Any opinion will be appreciated.
Thank you so much for these recordings seriously they are like some of my fave live versions ever I feel privileged it was recorded. The video of hey is incredible
1incest, ra*e, religion and murder...must be a Pixies lyric...and often the same song! They were utterly untouchable at this point: both on record and live...Seeing them live then was like undergoing a fun exorcism..
Amazing quality! Most of the live bootlegs that I've seen have warped colours and are super degraded because they're obviously tapes from 25+ years ago.
+Euge Tipsarevic Ya, Takamine. He has always, and still does, use them. That one was built specially for playing on stage, loud. Now he uses regular accoustics with aftermarket pickups. Theyre decent guitars, but theyre not THAT good. I never understood why he stuck with them.
88 and 89 were the Years of pixies then they were so unique they had a loyal following what was peaking popularity speaking hair metal which was a joke and old cheese dance music they were alone with the rest of the underground and this isn't alternative rock either one of a kind that nirvana made famous end of story
as a drummer i have to say dave's drumming is incredibly underrated

Helllyeah!!!!
This tour is legendary. This is the Pixies in their prime.
Best part of the Pixies trip!
agreed. too bad i was only 8 years old haha...!?
was listening to them 4years later though, that was my introduction, on a good old cassette tape dub/compilation from my older sister's guitar playing & short-lived boyfriend ;)
They just stand there in one place and play the best fucking rock music ever created. No gimmicks
"and you go to the beach all day"
Love the way he delivers that line
please never delete this playlist
On my yearly pilgrimage to revisit this performance. Absolute gods
If it's possible, they're even better live than they are in studio. Plus, Kim looks like she's having the time of her life, haha.
Just look at how freakin' crazy the crowd is going as Nimrod's Son starts (literally the second song of the set). This is like the first time any of these people saw this band before. Wild.
That’s because the songs were epic!

Amo profundamente a Pixies. Son la mejor banda del UNIVERSO.Y basta.
@@rupowell2821 the Pixies are the GOAT, not in a million years will there be another band like them.

And Joey's the world's most underrated guitarist!
The I noticed is that from the beginning of the video they're all in perfect sync.
Clearly one of the greatest gigs ever to have happened
Agreed.
Definitely
Definitely a time machine show
What an amazing band. One of the most unique which is why I fell in love them immediately. Violent Femmes, Devo, and the Pixies are my holy trinity.. with a dash of Rod Stewart, naturally
Naturally.
@@jeans.plante512 But, of course.
Epic is right. Brilliant lyrics, excellent guitar and drums and singing. One of the best bands Ever!!

Pixies are fucking immortal.

These guys are just so fucking cool.
Frank's perfect screeching and Kim's sexiness are just too much to handle.
AND THOSE LYRICS. THAT GUITAR. DAT BASS. UGH.

I was there, it was a great gig.
these guys were/still are untouchable.
Great band. Punk & new wave had so many talented & gorgeous lady bass players: Kim, D'arcy & Tina not least amongst them ❤️
Kim's voices is everything bro

Makes me almost want to cry that I couldnt be there for gigs like this during this time.
I saw them in Vancouver and it was so amazing, dancing to Ed is dead with my friends, best best night ever
Thank you so much for these recordings seriously they are like some of my fave live versions ever I feel privileged it was recorded. The video of hey is incredible
Drums and bass..inmaculate!
One of, if not THE best gigs ever. I would sell my grandmother to have been there.
They have made me really fall in love with indie rock when i was 20!
I've never heard rock in the same way after i started to listen the Pixies.
thanks for posting this concert! i saw them a few months later - totally blew me away
Kim Deal rules !!!!!!!
thanks for sharing the best concert of all time!!! xD
I like at about 2:20 when Kim Deal screams "Wait a minute!"
So *that's* what she said
Amazing...and in 1988. Nothing better since.
Let us be thank full
Ya know, Kim is actually pretty hot.
+Kermicheo Kermit scorching hot, so is her sister
Yeah but who gives a fuck with songs like this
There is so much spit and sweat, heavy breathing moshpit.. No wonder she's hot..
she's fucking ravishing
Joey Santiago is such a gentleman.
What a trip, absolutely fantastic ❤
🙌🤩Blowing the Brit’s minds 🤩🙌
That seemed to happen often since they had to study American music so they could repackage it
Isso que é um show ao vivo ! (Putz !, como o tempo passa, tenho esse DVD até hj.).
So far the best live I've seen of them.
I love how his voice sounds absolutely ripped on the first damn song of the set, haha.
Fantastic channel. Well done! We really enjoyed it.
Jeez. What a song lineup.
What a concert O_O
Would've swapped seein Nirvana for the Pixies anyday !
@C G
Am aware ov that. All depends on where in the uk . Sheffield is the closest . Saw Nirvana in Munich . It just turns out that way ...
Bone machine is such a great tune!
Kim was a good bass player. She was a very fast downstroker.
I find the pixies very underrated but at the same time I understand how they can’t be cool for everyone
yeah, they do not look the part, they look too normal, and for a lot of shallow and stupid people that is a dealbreaker. really, fuck those idiots.
@@DanHintzI love how they looked the more awkward the better awkward but not ugly lol
The music of the future in the past today.
kim is completely drunk and dave is high as a kite.. but still top 10 live shows of all time. insane
Kim is jaw jacking so she's probably on coke too
awesome! indeed.
Quietly introduced his band and spends the rest of the concert fucking screaming lmao
Tks....
jajaa GRACIAS TINO, Q LINDO ESTO !!!!

Ese grito en NIMROD'S SON :')
This is excellent. I loved these mfs for so long and it's time to pull out my Pixies music and get back in.

THIS BAND FUCKING RULES.
Nimrod's son is fucking awesome
They were great when we saw them...

THE JOKE HAS COME UPON ME
YOU'RE SO PRETTY WHEN YOU'RE UNFAITHFUL TO ME !!!!
Amazing quality! Most of the live bootlegs that I've seen have warped colours and are super degraded because they're obviously tapes from 25+ years ago.
Does somebody know what is the acoustic guitar Frank uses here?
+Euge Tipsarevic
Ya, Takamine. He has always, and still does, use them. That one was built specially for playing on stage, loud. Now he uses regular accoustics with aftermarket pickups. Theyre decent guitars, but theyre not THAT good. I never understood why he stuck with them.
Frank's screams are hurtin' like an icepick into my ears....but i like them anyway :D
And someone buy him a soda...
Damn, Frank was on fire in this!
Does anyone know what what that guitar is? (Francis' Acoustic)
"we're the Pixies"......

Your a bone machine!!! Aaahhhh!
How do I get this sound track or cd, is it out there?
Pixies In Mexico!!! 16/10/10 17/10/10!!!
I want to do things to Frank black
Kim looks as high as I feel
Vorbild für viele große Bands...Kim ist Bass-Goettin
Never bettered.
When that was realized this show?
May 1st 1988, It was Pixies first tour in UK along with Throwing Muses
@boudy077 It's a Washburn Acoustic, but i don't know the type.
Going to see the Breeders next week :) CANNOT WAIT! KIM FU*&ING DEAL!!!
I woz there
What's the acoustic guitar model he is using?
It is definitly a Washburn. I don't know the correct model but I think it is comparable to WEA130SLTD.
Kim looks like she’s bobbing her head in reverse
88 and 89 were the Years of pixies then they were so unique they had a loyal following what was peaking popularity speaking hair metal which was a joke and old cheese dance music they were alone with the rest of the underground and this isn't alternative rock either one of a kind that nirvana made famous end of story
there was dead milkmen and violent femmes and all that in the 80s
this is da shit yo
"empreguinou ela nos lençóis "
Hahahaha since frank black aka black Francis aka Charles Thompson Is chubby his little boobs wiggle due to the fast strumming in Nimrods son
MrTheimportantguy
I laughed a little bit too hard at that oh my god
Kim should have borrowed him one of her bras
