as a drummer i have to say dave's drumming is incredibly underrated
so true, thats probably what makes the pixies great no one steals the limelight there all doing there part like joey dosent just do a big ostentatious solo in the middle of the song cause he's not done much in the song. they really have a great sense of music and complementing each other.
He’s probably the most underrated drummer ever. I don’t say that lightly. He’s incredibly inventive with his drum parts but he’s also always in the pocket. People always talk about Frank and Kim, even Joey’s guitar playing, but no one ever mentions David’s drumming. Its totally essential to the band. I think Steve Albini is the only person I can recall saying something positive

Just look at how freakin' crazy the crowd is going as Nimrod's Son starts (literally the second song of the set). This is like the first time any of these people saw this band before. Wild.

@@brandall101 it was recorded well for a live concert in the 80s..but the pixies were always phenomenal live. They had a great emphasis on practice and rehearsals behind the scenes. They were unbelievably tight here! Class act

I saw them for the first time in Spokane around 2013 and while it was a damn solid night, I am eternally grateful that dedicated people took the time to capture these incredible moments during the band's peak. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't get a whole lot better than this.
And Joey's the world's most underrated guitarist!

I'm now an elderly & happily married man, but the aforementioned lady bassists informed my youth & I appreciated their talent & good looks. Was I supposed to ignore them? 88 and 89 were the Years of pixies then they were so unique they had a loyal following what was peaking popularity speaking hair metal which was a joke and old cheese dance music they were alone with the rest of the underground and this isn't alternative rock either one of a kind that nirvana made famous end of story

Ya, Takamine. He has always, and still does, use them. That one was built specially for playing on stage, loud. Now he uses regular accoustics with aftermarket pickups. Theyre decent guitars, but theyre not THAT good. I never understood why he stuck with them.
