The radio show was "PAUL WHITEMAN PRESENTS" {NBC, July 4, 1943}. And it was the LAST time Bing, Al Rinker and Harry Barris ever appeared together.........

I'll give Bing credit. He was the biggest popular singer on the planet in 1943, and yet did the reunion with the Rhythm Boys for Whiteman's radio show. We know he didn't need the money!

Makes me sad to hear the audience laughing, I actually really enjoyed their style , and am glad they remembered it so immaculately so many years later. That means they had really found a truth in it

The producer of this record loved his echo chamber.

I hate reverb. It has ruined many a reissue as it was seen as an "improvement " when actually it was any thing but that.

This "celebration" is packaged to look like a special event, which it's just bits and pieces taken from old records, radio shows and movies with Pops speaking between. I found a copy for sale at a record show for $20. I passed on it. And after talking to a few others I found I'd made the right decision.

Some of the edits are quite audible--e.g., loud applause stopping abruptly, and sudden groove noise from an older transcription of Crosby, Rinker and Barris which the editors inserted to make the occasion seem like a "reunion."

I don't know what this is the 50th anniversary of, but it can't be the 50th anniversary of the Rhythm Boys.

      50th anniversary of Whitman's career.

More like a century. Paul Whiteman and the Rhythm Boys were making records in the 1920s.

The Rhythm boys weren't even born yet fifty years before! This is 50th anniversary of Whitman's career. :)
