Thank you for the question. For me autofocus in video was about the same as in photo. The real issue was I was fighting the focus for more than 1 frame.
Thanks! I’m planning to buy Nikon Z camera and this Sigma lens. But there is not much of information about their’s compatibility. And it looks Like I should give this combo a try.
Hi...I have Z6 Ftx with Sigma 50 500 HSM OS. I have problems with AF, doesn´t work. My z6 version is 3.60, but still not working. What can i do?¿? any recommendation?
Ftx?? I am not familiar with that adapter. If you are referring to the Nikon FTZ adapter I did have the OEM gen 1. I sold the oem one and bought the viltrox FTZ adapter because it seems to work better with third-party lenses. The Fringer canon to Z adapter has also worked well so I buy mostly ef lenses. I did try the tamron 70-200mm f2.8 vc with the viltrox adapter and it has errors and was unusable. From what what I understand that lens needs a firmware update with the optional oem tamron usb mount to work correctly.
Good morning! Thank you for the positive feedback. As for you question about this lens being fast enough for sports: The short answer is yes. I shot 4 Jr football games back to back. I liked the zoom flexibility and I felt it's limitations helped grow my skills. A parent paid me for these: www.flickr.com/gp/196034799@N06/06CU6FRvsp However, my take away was this. 1) My arms were sore and I ended up ditching my tripod and monopod because they got in the way. 2) take a lot of pictures, be ready for some lag or focus hunting. 3) you get more keeper photos in good light and shutter speeds closer to 1/1000. 4) brace that lens mount!!!!! 5) I bought 2 of these lenses and the first one failed. They have a lot going on inside. P.s. before this I was using a Nikon D7200 and Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm F/4.5-5.6G IF-ED. I was pretty happy with this combination and the lens was sharper. The camera lcd rear screen was dead so it was like using a old film camera with just the basic evf light meter and little top screen. I shot more than half a season and practices with that combo. www.flickr.com/gp/196034799@N06/aS1vC4dgd4
@sebastiandavid8677 thank you so much for responding so fast lol. I shoot alot of runway events and I was looking for something with a bit of range to help me get better shots. 50-500mm is an awesome range. The models move extremely fast and if tou blink you'll miss everything 😂. Which of course is why I've been searching for a speedy focus/shutter. Your review definitely helped!
No problem. I don't remember shooting indoors. I did have to do some post sharpening and correcting. I would take a couple of lenses you allready have and try closing your f-stop down to f6.3 and see how you like shooting indoors. Do have any samples of your work?
I kind of like adapting canon lenses better. I have a A6500 with Altson CEF-SE adapter. I used that and a Tamron sp 28-75 f2.8 fullframe lens for wrestling. It ends up being like 42-112.5 f4.2 on apsc. www.flickr.com/gp/196034799@N06/9AFv8F68yi The main adapter I use with my Z6 is the Fringer EF-NZ with that tamron EF lens. The Nikon ftz adapter wouldn't work with the gen1 and some of the cheaper lenses. With the Fringer adapter I can use the Canon ef 50mm f1.4 and the Canon 100mm f2 -I think but havent tried the 100mm. Those lenses should also work with Altson CEF-SE -the 50mm f1.4 does. I sold my gen1 Nikon ftz adapter and got the Viktrox NF-z adapter. I tried the gen1 Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 -bought twice- but either my copies were bad or the lens just isn't sharp.
what about autofocus in video mode on the Sony 6500?

As a note I can't vouch for this lens with the oem Nikon FTZ adapter. I sold my gen 1 because it only seemed compatible with oem lenses

Hey! Great review. Would you say the Sigma lens focuses fast enough for sports photography?
