My congratulations on the video, you were the only one who showed with step by step details how to do this cleaning procedure, I was very afraid to open it, after I saw your video, I got up my courage, I looked for several You tube videos, and none of them were as rich in details as yours, and the excellent image, I’m from Brazil and nique from here focused the video with these visual details so clearly, thank you friend for helping me to clean my Acer Notebook, which is the even yours, which you show in the video, and I ended up saving a few bucks thanks to you, I already wrote and gave a thumbs up, and pressed the bell, hug.
I forget to put that middle motherboard screw (used for grounding )that maybe the reason my laptop not start...after watching u r video I realize that thanx for taking effort to show this *also want to mention that most people just show only disassemble but u show assembly thanx for that
This was a very informative and paced video. I have this model computer long ago. It doesn’t work anymore. But thank you for this video for letting know how to un screw each bolt to see what goes inside a laptop and each key component works and were their placed. This was extremely helpful for a new IT beginner. :)
An update a year later: my laptop's motherboard fully shorted out after so many years of service it is dead. RIP. But thanks again for helping me take it apart those many times before! Including to take it apart to give it an autopsy once it died
Great video my fan was doing overtime & laptop getting quite hot underneath. Wasn't sure how to get to fan until I found your vid was almost as clogged as yours lol. It's performing a lot better now, thanks top man :)
My wifes laptop had an overheating/shutdown issue, so I installed coretemp, which showed the temps running very high. I vacuumed the fan slots (output side first) and it's running a lot cooler without tearing the whole machine apart. still running high at times though, so I may still have to do this. Good vid.
Great video! Used it to swap my Acer Aspire 5336's Celeron CPU for a Core 2 Duo T9600. Worked like a charm! This video doesn't show CPU replacement, but it would be the next step of disassembly and is pretty self explanatory if you can get that far- Take out the 4 spring screws from the CPU heat sink in reverse order of their numbers (4-3-2-1), remove it. Turn screw on CPU retainer to unlocked postion. Swap CPUS, apply some new thermal paste and reattach the heat sink with the screws in numbered order> SSD swap, extra 2 GB of memory and now a swap to one of the best Core 2 Duos, this laptop has gone from so extremely slow it was unusable to.... Very slow. But usable!
This Acer model laptop lasted almost 10 years and it served me well. The only issue it developed was a weak battery and not charging, because the power port was damaged after I opened it several times to clean the dust.
Muy bueno amigo. Me ayudaste a desarmar y armar. Tuve problema con el ventilador y tuve que ponerle otro más chico de una lenovo y igual me funcionó. La temperatura mejoró mucho de 85 pase a 59 c
13:00 - You shouldn't brush down a motherboard with a paint brush as this generates static which can kill the board. Its also a good idea, particularly on a laptop motherboard, to use an anti-static mat and wrist-strap.
Great Video disassembly done perfectly I would have like to see you changing the thermal paste from Gpu and Cpu for an extra bonus. but this was great. one other thing these laptops overheat pretty easily because the thermal paste they put is bad quality and insufficient I replaced mine and it dropped the temperature all around .

Thank you for this video! very informative! I disassembled, cleaned and reassembled mine. everything works fine. Fan was pretty clean, tho. practically nothing in comparison to your ball of hair and dust :D There was more isolation tape around mine.
Thank you very much for this video, it is the same for my model Travelmate 5735Z! I noted one thing with the WLAN module: At the beginning (0:48), the outer cable is the black one. When u reassable it at 19:48, the outer cable is the white one. Does it make a difference? Thanks again, it helped me very much

Great Video! All steps are clear. But now on 14:20 there is a technical problem ... I am wondering what glue strip I could use. the old one doesn't fix anymore. Could I use adhesive tape or an insulating band?
Thank you for this video! Only one question: How do I know wich screw needs to go where? I see more than 100 screws, are they all the same or do I need to label them if I want to put them in the right place back again?
Excellent video. I have the same laptop, the motherboard needs replacing and its out of warranty so i have nothing to lose. will let you know how i get on !
5:20 I see that you mix all screws. This can be very confusing when reassembling. What I do is to separate all screws by sections and tag them accordingly.
Hello not sure if you're still there, but any tips on what you're doing at 4:07? Do I push all 6 buttons at once? Because I can't see a spot where I can pull the keyboard up..

I have a problem with this notebook. When I try to run it, I show only the Acer logo, then notebook is shutting down and restarting over and over again. I can't enter to the BIOS. When I try to do it, notebook beeps (sometimes one long beep, sometimes two short beeps and sometimes four short beeps). The same situation is when I try to press F8. I checked RAM - bone works good in another notebook. Please help me
Thx for the video, very helpful! I've never done this before, I don'k know what kind of tools I should buy, do you have the exact reference? And I think I only need to clean the fan, as my computer became very noisy and stops all the time now, do you think I still have to remove the keyboard and go by the front, or shoud I just open the back (I'm a little scared to break something)? Thank you very much!

God bless you Acer Travelmate 5742G laptop.
