    Been using one of these for a few years. They work most consistently in cooler temps if they're warmed (like keep it in your shirt pocket for several minutes). They also like to be on a level surface. They're a bit sensitive to air movement in the room, so you're right - it's good to give it a few seconds to settle down. I get better results using the pan from my RCBS beam balance than the pan that came with the scale. Bullets can be weighed directly on the scale, without using the pan. I like mine a lot and use it almost all the time. I've double-checked it against the beam balance and found that they correlate exactly (or as close as I can read the balance). Nice review! Cheers.

    The calibration weight, as well as the pan, must be centered within the circle. Off-centering of the weight or pan will cause variants in readings.

    I just got that same scale a few weeks back. No complaints so far.

    Measure out five or six items one after another and watch how it'll start to increase or decrease. You have to continuously recalibrate it.

      I used mine to measure my charge on ammo I recently loaded and had consistent measurements the whole time.

      @@travisp11 did you go all the way down to milligrams? 5 to 10 mg it starts to have issues.

      @@jamesross4350 I was loading 6.5 grains with just a small amount of variance +- .2. Gr which wasn’t enough to cause me any issues as it could have been my powder thrower causing the issue.

    Good depending on the purpose.
    Would go for a much better scale for powder trickling.
    I think I'll come up with a hardshell pocket case for this.........

    With the powder trickler I put a few powder kernels in, take the dish off then put it back on. I just keep doing that till I get my grain weight.

    The Hornady bullets are made in Nebraska, so the weight will be more accurate. Right? Does that scale have an automatic shutoff? I'd recommend double checking it against the Lee Safety Scale if you are ever in doubt.

    • @travisp11
      @travisp11  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I may have only mentioned it once but the scale shuts off after 1 minute. Im okay with that for now but I may pick up a better one in the future.

    Bought one of these 6 months ago. Just OK. I use for field use only. Just tested with some check weights. 0.1 grain accuracy. Will drift a lot. Need to check and tare before every weigh. Temperature and draft sensitive for sure. Mine will cal with 50g weight and say pass but does nothing after that. Has circle with dot on display that came up after tare but "manual" says nothing about it.

    • @travisp11
      @travisp11  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. Im not sure what that dot is all about. used mine heavily last winter while reloading and I do frequently re zero it just to be safe.

    Thanks for the vid. I wish u luck with the scale. I didn't really have luck with mine. I had issues when trickling and occasionally it would just not feel like giving a stable reading. I think with any of these little electronic scales a 2 or more minute warm up time is preferable, I just think they work better that way.

      I don't trust batteries. You can't tell if one is good or bad by looking at it.
      So, I bought a radio shack battery tester.
      One bad battery in a device will cause it to act like it's got dead batteries when in fact only one has died. With the checker i can find and replace the dead one and I'm good to go.
      I bought a pack of new, expensive lithium AA batteries and one of them was dead already. If I hadn't had the checker I wouldn't have known what the problem was.
      My new scale works ok. Both batteries checked out good.
