As a child, on your dads show , he would say goodnight to all you kids. My name was Cindy, and my Mom said he was saying goodnight to me. As a poor farm girl , it meant alot. I knew he didnt mean me, but it made a poor kid feel special, when the youngest of 8, no one was special. But it was a small joy to be singled out.

Hi, Alex great interview with Cathy Cash I think Cathy is a very interesting lady Johnny Cash was very popular in Australia my father did have all of his records and now that my father is no longer with me I have all of his Jonny Cashes albums the best songs I liked from Jonny Cash was the burning ring of fire, San Quinton, Orange blossom special and 4 feet high and rising. Great song by the man in Black Cathy is very lucky to have Johnny Cash as her father and America and Canada and Australia to have a great entertainer like Johnny Cash.

    Alex, Wow!
What a fantastic job you’ve done to interview with Kathy Cash! I’ve known that you are a Johnny Cash fan from previous shows you’ve done (and quite a good musical impersonator at that).
Your appreciation for “The Man in Black” really shows through - subtly so - and helps make for a great interview. It was a great thing you’ve done to reach out to connect with his daughter. It’s also clear that you have made her feel very comfortable and at home talking about her family’s personal stories. That’s a skill that’s born of someone who’s a very good, natural listener and honors who they are talking to…
This is a professional level interview!!

Beautiful lady, beautiful stories. Her Dad carved her Mom's name in a cedar bench that was along the River Walk in San Antonio Texas. The story goes many years later her Mom found it on a visit to SA. She wanted to take it home but the city wouldn't let her and put it in a local museum. I remember at the time most of us felt she should have been allowed to take it home. I bet her Mom was a wonderful person. It takes a strong woman to love a man like that and love him enough to continue to honor him even after you let him go. She sure did a good job raising her girls.

What a lovely interview. Kathy Cash comes across as very likeable. After watching the interview I watched My Darling Vivian and I am reading I Walked The Line. I had previously read a biography of Johnny Cash that was a bit more sympathetic to Vivian, so when I saw the movie that was made about Johnny Cash I knew that how she was portrayed wasn't at all fair or realistic. The funny thing is that I had never really listened to Johnny Cash until Alex started covering some of his songs and now I have learned so much about him. I teach violin to children and growing up as a classically trained violinist I only really listened to classical music. Now in my 60's I am discovering an entire world out there of fabulous music that I have never heard. I feel so excited to know there is always more to learn.

Love the interview. Grew up with Johnny, my parents were his age. It was Country and gospel at the time. Oh, I long for the good old moral fueled days!

Really enjoyed this interview. Kathy is such a nice lady and loved hearing about her family. I grew up listening a lot to Johnny Cash. My dad would play his guitar and sing many of Johnny's songs. Great memories to hear.

Johnny Cash was the background music of
    My childhood .
Pile the 5 kids in the station wagon and we sang
Every Johnny Cash song we knew . no radio
    Cross country for 3days .
But my Dad loved Johnny like a brother ,how fitting
That tomorrow's Father's Day to be reminded of a
    Faded memory .

After watching your visit with Kathy I searched out the documentary "My Darling Vivian" and it touched my heart deeply. What an amazing tribute to a strong woman (and daughters) and all that they had to endure because the Father that they loved had the gift of song. It's hard enough to have family struggles without everything being so public. How painfuI to have to deal with that as children. I will be ordering Vivian's book and would encourage other's to watch the documentary "My Darling Vivian". Sending much Love to Kathy and her sisters.

Thank you Kathy for sharing!! I have a picture of my mom and your dad from the 50's, I think it was back stage at a concert. My mom was 5'1", she was looking up at him like she had never seen a tall person before. 😊

Johnny Cash was a better actor than most people gave him credit for.

Thanks for this video, Johnny Cash was and is my fav singer of all time! The night he died I was working for The St.Paul Pioneer Press and I put on the front page plate for the paper.Later I stashed a bundle of the papers in a secret place in building. They are no longer printing there, but bet those papers are still there.

Wonderful interview. A down too Earth honest warm hearted picture of Johnny Cash and his family. Thank you Kathy (and Alex) for sharing it with us. I liked Johnny's music and I really have enjoyed Rosanne's singing. I used to do Tennessee Flat Top Box for Karaoke. 😊 Alex you have a gift for gab and a way of putting people at ease and asking interesting questions.
