While ST has technology that largely seems like an extension of our own, SW usually uses hand wavey "science" to make things fit. That being said, they both keep careful records using real world terms. The most requested matchup I have seen is the Enterprise vs. a Star Destroyer. (Though I have seen fighter on fighter, or DS9 vs. Death Star) This is not an easy fight to calculate, simply because in both cases, the question is, "which one". There have been several versions of the Enterprise, and the types of ship called a Star Destroyer vary in size by literal orders of magnitude. I chose to take the largest and most powerful version of the Enterprise according to the technical specs I found online. To compare, I used a standard Imperial I Star Destroyer as seen in the original SW movie. As most front-line heavy warships can, it can pump all of it's power into the weapons when needed. Given its power specifications (which sadly used Watts instead of the Joules I saw on the ST ship), it can put through 7.73 x 10^24 W. Divide that by 100 (it has more weapons than that but we can say it is just using those). Comparing that to the Enterprise, it was listed as being able to use 125,000 Terajoules of power for its phaser banks. If we assume the SW ship is using W/s then it is putting through more than 600,000x times as much power through *each* of its lasers than the enterprise can use on weapons. Even if that is Watts/*hour*, it is a whopping 171x. And that is *each* gun. If we were comparing weapon systems, that number becomes over 17,000x. The fight is not a fair one. SW just scales its stuff higher. The only group I have seen in ST able to consistently match power and size (and number) with the Empire at all, has been the Borg. Their cubes can actually contend. Add in their assimilation and you might actually have a fight. I'd be more than happy to compare other ships, or infantry if you want, but this has turned very long. Tl;Dr Star Trek has the better tech but Star Wars ships win because of power scaling.

We need more Death Battles with these kinds of characters. They're far more enjoyable to watch than seeing characters from Marvel, DC, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter for the 50th time in a row.
I mean, it'll possibly not turn out well for either one. Just look at Tracer vs. Scout or Steven Universe vs. Star Butterfly. Even worse is when a unexpected character faces someone from a series that's been in Death Battle before, and lose (like Amy vs. Ramona and Beerus vs. Sailor Galaxia). Side note, I think it'd be funny to see Garfield in the show at some point, even if he loses.

Actual battle aside, I like the fact that they took on a new art style for this battle. They generally only go with the same two art styles (pixelated, and 3d) and i can think of... like... one deviation from the 3D ones where they used cell shading instead of normal shading. So, yeah! great job to the animator(s)!

He has clearly shown to move around in frozen time, even if he can't change the world around him he can at least change his position to avoid the slap or the giant hand. Although they could've made smokey move in stopped time if that happened, they didn't even let him to it here since he stomped macruff so hard

The animation on that one was incredible. The ending made me feel oddly sad though, I think it was the sound effects put in with the death scene, touched a soft spot... Phenomenal episode though, one of the more memorable I think!

Macho It’s because videos had a 10 minute time limit in the first half of season 1, so all fights were short. If it was because one opponent had far better attacks than a lot of recent Death Battles would end in seconds

Well that was pretty obvious. When they first introduced Smokey (and people can go and look up my comment from weeks ago), I asked how is McGruff possibly going to have any chance at winning? A Bloodhound, a dog that was made for tracking and not fighting--I mean, if McGruff was a Pit Bull (a dog used used for fighting bears in fighting sports like bear baiting as well as hunting) or something, then maybe I could see the match up--against a walking, talking bear? McGruff doesn’t even have a gun. A gun-less Bloodhound against a walking, talking black bear that can step on fire with his bare feet. Not an even match up.
Actually, Bloodhounds WERE originally built for hunting, things as tough as wild boar in fact, and those guys are seriously dangerous. Still no bear, though.

So My dad tried this in real life, our dog Scar vs a black bear.... Scar won.....he outsmarted the bear, jumped on its back and bit its neck and repeat until the bear kneeled and Scar made like a mortal kombat character and FINISHED HIM!!! To bad it happened in America and not Australia which is where I’m from....so I didn’t see it up close and personal....also it happened 2 years before me, my brother and sister were born....Scar’s still alive and makes a good bodyguard! 1=1 respect for Scar being so brave! I mean, it'll possibly not turn out well for either one. Just look at Tracer vs. Scout or Steven Universe vs. Star Butterfly.
Even worse is when a unexpected character faces someone from a series that's been in Death Battle before, and lose (like Amy vs. Ramona and Beerus vs. Sailor Galaxia).
Side note, I think it'd be funny to see Garfield in the show at some point, even if he loses.

Actual battle aside, I like the fact that they took on a new art style for this battle. They generally only go with the same two art styles (pixelated, and 3d) and i can think of... like... one deviation from the 3D ones where they used cell shading instead of normal shading.
So, yeah! great job to the animator(s)!

Ian Parlaman they hired a completely different animation studio for this one instead of using Torian Luis or Junky
I suppose they usually do pixel at Ed ones as it is easier and cheaper and 3d ones because they can get treated prerendered characters.

I don't think he can. I think all he can do is pause time to comment on the situation then unfreeze time.
The problem with this is, in Death Battle, you only win if you kill your opponent. Running away would be a draw at best and a forfeit at worst.
He has clearly shown to move around in frozen time, even if he can't change the world around him he can at least change his position to avoid the slap or the giant hand.
Although they could've made smokey move in stopped time if that happened, they didn't even let him to it here since he stomped macruff so hard

{DDLC} Model Some of the earlier ones (Yoshi vs Riptor and Zitz vs Leonardo come to mind), but it’s certainly short for current recent Death Battle standards

Macho It’s because videos had a 10 minute time limit in the first half of season 1, so all fights were short. If it was because one opponent had far better attacks than a lot of recent Death Battles would end in seconds

Well that was pretty obvious. When they first introduced Smokey (and people can go and look up my comment from weeks ago), I asked how is McGruff possibly going to have any chance at winning? A Bloodhound, a dog that was made for tracking and not fighting--I mean, if McGruff was a Pit Bull (a dog used used for fighting bears in fighting sports like bear baiting as well as hunting) or something, then maybe I could see the match up--against a walking, talking bear? McGruff doesn’t even have a gun. A gun-less Bloodhound against a walking, talking black bear that can step on fire with his bare feet. Not an even match up.

Actually, Bloodhounds WERE originally built for hunting, things as tough as wild boar in fact, and those guys are seriously dangerous. Still no bear, though.

Easily one of the most underrated death battles
in terms of animation and everything else a fight between smokey the god damn bear and Mgcruff is one of their best fights to date. Call it whatever you want but you cant ignore the work put in.
Yeah, it was a great way to get us involved in a joke battle with a foregone conclusion. They should do animation like that more often!

So My dad tried this in real life, our dog Scar vs a black bear....
Scar won.....he outsmarted the bear, jumped on its back and bit its neck and repeat until the bear kneeled and Scar made like a mortal kombat character and FINISHED HIM!!! To bad it happened in America and not Australia which is where I’m from....so I didn’t see it up close and personal....also it happened 2 years before me, my brother and sister were born....Scar’s still alive and makes a good bodyguard!
