This is a ridiculous plot. NO hospital will leave a newborn nursery unstaffed!

Oh i wish in 1984 the night my daughter was born she was missing from the nursery and no nurse was there she was with my daughter three hallways divided by doors away by the elevator I grab my baby and asked just what was she doing? Oh just taking her for a walk. I was so scared I told her if you want to walk babies walk them in the nursery. I kept her in my room with my husband for the next three days.

In 1977 when I gave birth to my daughter, there was only ever a nurse in the nursery at the hospital when it was feeding time.

Definitely both are insane. They're of a recent enough generation to know the father is responsible for the sex of his babies.

James and his mother slept through the lessons on gender selection. It is the man who produces the gender element.
As an aside, I used to fly with a man who fathered five daughters, never a son. And he loved them dearly.

Feedback for the baby stealing: Hospitals in current day have an enormous security setup around newborn nurseries. Seriously doubt aggressors would have found any moment a bunch of babies unattended. Even for "emergencies". They have whole teams of personnel securing access. But the description of the delivery made me smile. When our son was born, I went into labor early morning and he delivered at 6:08 pm. So I can relate 🙂 And regarding the persistent theme of wanting a male heir... it's not unusual for dynasties like that to have a (suitable) male marry into the familly and take on the family name for a daughter raised to inherit... so the MIL's sick insistence on the need for a male baby is crazy. Plus, the "husband"/momma's boy is a big part of the problem here, for just blindly doing what he was told all the time. A husband who can't take his wife's side over his mother is not a husband.

Will not watch or listen to anything that says they threw the baby away, out the window, off the balcony, etc. what is wrong with sick people.

They always check both the mothers medical band and match it with the baby to insure that it's the right parent and child and some hospitals even use some type of device so that the baby or babies can't be taken out of the hospital with out a nurse or doctor knowing!!

It never ceases to surprise me in a "you better give us a son or else..." stories that the husband and or his family don't seem to understand the pregnant woman doesn't determine the sex of the baby. It's the man's sperm that determines the sex of the baby. Lower sperm count = boys. Higher sperm count = girls. A boy can be adopted. The parents can try again for a boy. It's really that simple.

For ten thousand years men have blamed their wives for birthing daughters instead of sons.
      That's silly.

After final arguments comes Jury deliberations and then, after a guilty verdict, sentencing. You left out a whole step.

For one thing … twins are normally delivered a 2 - 4 weeks by cesarian section before the due date. Also, doctors prefer the expecting parents to pre register for the delivery. As far as I am aware of, doctors &/or midwives are uncomfortable with a multiple pregnancy with a natural delivery because the babies could come out in the wrong position &/or the baby/babies following the birth of the first one could get tangled in the umbilical cord of it’s sibling/siblings.
As this story is apparently set in the resent date, I don’t think that the nursery for newly born babies would be on a completely separate floor from the maternity ward nor would the nurses on duty be so few that there were no nurses at all to attempt to stop this sort of thing from happening, but it is possible that the night nurse could be out of sight in the back treatment room tending to the health of a baby. When I gave birth to my daughter 39 years ago I was warned in time that my soon-to-be ex husband was intending on taking our daughter from the nursery to put her up for sale for adoption. He didn’t want me to have her because he didn’t want to have to pay me child support for a baby that might not be his … I had never cheated on him but he wouldn’t believe me because of a “joke” his drinking buddies played on him when they were all drunk. They did tell him the truth when they were all sober but, in the back of his alcoholic addicted mind, he still believed what he had been told when he was drunk that one specific time. Once I had informed my GP of the threat, he wrote specific instructions that my baby girl would be in my physical care at all times unless I had to tend to my personal health, such as having a shower, which was when the head shift nurse would carry my daughter in the nurse’s arms constantly until I could take my baby back into my care. At the same time frame, there was only one time that I am aware of where there apparently was no on duty nurse but the nurse was in the back treatment room tending to an at risk baby & the shift head nurse was in the back room working with the nursery nurse. I had to rush my baby to the nursery to get my baby’s breathing issues tended to. She had been born so quickly that she hadn’t been properly suctioned out when she was born, so she has inhaled some amniotic fluid into her lungs, compromising her abilities to properly breathe. I got her to the nursery for help just in time, as it turned out. By the speed that I got her to the nursery for assistance, she didn’t have any lasting problems with her lungs.
If the babies were born on or near the due date & they had suffered no real injuries from their fall & landing in the heavily covered branches of the hedges, there should be no reason why they were placed in incubators. While the father & grandmother of the twin could, reasonably be arrested asap for child abuse & attempted first degree murder of the twins, it’s highly unlikely that they had been brought to the courts & convicted of any of the charges so quickly. They could, however, be held over for trial with no bail, or an extremely high amount that would be very difficult to raise quickly, of these crimes due to the legalities of the criminals having the rights to a fair trial. It would then most likely that their lawyer would probably request that the trial be held at a different courthouse out of the local one due to the criminals wouldn’t get a fair trial of their peers because of the people of the jury would be picked from the people living in the city where te crimes had taken place, thereby “tainting” the opinions of the people chosen for the jury. Even if it is moved to a courthouse in another city &/or state/province, the chosen jury members probably would be biased against the father & grandmother of the twins anyways, thanks to the news reports of the crimes the pair were arrested for but there would be a slight better chance that the people chosen for the jury wouldn’t have been “corrupted” by the news because not all people pay enough attention to news from another city … unless it was as important as the bombing of the twin towers buildings in New York or natural disasters such as flooding that covered a fairly large area such as New Orleans or tornadoes setting down & destroying large areas of properties, taking the lives of or causing injuries of so many people or, even worse, resulting in the disappearance of so many others.
There is one other way that the “heir” being born to carry on the family name being “broken” … if the last remaining male heir doesn’t bring a male offspring, or no child at all, to carry on the family name is just as “damaging” to the line of succession. My last born baby, the only surviving twin at birth is the last of this branch of the family & he is now 34 yrs old without the possibility of having a child of his blood any time in the foreseeable future as the woman he is with has health issues that make getting pregnant would be very hazardous to her health, let alone be able to carry to term. It is even more unlikely because, as history has proven to be true, the first pregnancy will be with identical twin sons, no “if’s &/or but’s” about it. Every second generation the male heir will father identical twin baby boys in the first pregnancy but not necessarily in any further pregnancies for the same couple. My son’s father was the survivor of identical twin boys as, because of actions of their mother, the twins were born at 7.5 months gestation & one of the boys wasn’t strong enough to live more than 2 days before he passed away. Otherwise, my ex husband, Bill, & father of my son, wouldn’t have been so pressured to father a male heir as he was. As I had health issues making it unwise to have any further pregnancies, I took steps to not get pregnant again. Bill chose to take the same steps after our divorce so that he wouldn’t have any chances of brining another child into the world … also making the chances of any other male heir obsolete. He didn’t think that he would ever remarry, so he didn’t get in too much trouble from his father at the time. So … now it’s up to my son to carry on the family name … but he isn’t as inclined to have a baby to pass on the family line as his father was. Sure, my son would like to be a father but it’s not as important to him as the health of his girlfriend nor was it as important when he was common law married for 8 yrs. They had always thought that they had plenty of time before they settled down to try to have a child but, in the end, it was just as well that they didn’t get pregnant … or at least carry past the first trimester. My son doesn’t want to have a child in a divorced situation. I raised both my daughter & my son (from two different marriages) as a single parent, both before & after my marriage & divorce from Bill.
There is one other, but much lesser known of, way for an heir to be needed. There has been a female line of heir that is just as important to that form of lineage as the male’s. As to the validity of this line of succession is concerned, I have no proof but it has been “proven” by movies &/or television series to be “true” … or as true to the stories told of witches wanting female children to carry on the lineage of witches. Keeping in mind, in the television series “Bewitched” & “Charmed”, both male & female offspring were born to female witches &/or male witches, called warlocks. In the Harry Potter movies children could be born from “Muggle” parents or “magically endowed” parents who could or could not do magic, thereby making any child born be as equally likely of having magical powers themselves. Babies born with magical powers were/are celebrated a bit more than non magically endowed/muggle babies but both are welcome.

Why do you always find the mistakes in the story why not just see it as a lesson for every one to learn what is important is it ended happily.

Inside a US OB ward, one has to be buzzed into the ward & CCTV cameras are used to be let in. Various sections are sectioned off such as the nursery. The NICU is also cordoned off & must be buzzed in. There is no "isolated" moment the nursery is not being monitored. The mother child have matching wristbands. No one is foreign to the OB unit. Meaning the nurses draw blood or give shots. Unless guarded can't go for imaging. If ever a baby did go missing, there are serious no play protocols monitoring CCTV cameras throughout the hospital, locking down hallways/entrances. There are codes that go over the PA for mental patient escaped, baby missing etc.
Whoever writes these stories, needs to pay someone to proofread & review the technical/medical standards.

Why in these stories of bias against female children don’t the OPs mention that the MAN, not the woman, determines the sex of children?

During questioning the prosecutor should have brought up you do know there is the possibility you might not have a boy correct, with him asking what do you mean? You do remember from biology class that the man determines the sex of the child correct?
