I'm one of those people who really needs a desk phone. So I got myself a Yealink MP58. Hardware's good, this isn't my first Yealink phone. I agree with the presenter, that if you do a lot of Teams-to-Teams calling, the phone is a decent enough, if expensive (which one isn't?) option. However, if you're under the impression that this phone is anything more than that, you're in for an expensive surprise. One would think, that the phone being an Android 9 device, the software is the same as that which you're used to on your mobile phone. Nope. Completely different codebase, and what is more important: utter feature-stripped and frustrating garbage.
    - Want to make an outside call? I dare you to get thru physically dialing the number. Go ahead and watch the app go into spasms as you begin to hit the digits
    - Want to add outside phone number to address book? Sacrilege!
    - Want to group contacts in different People groups? Nope, MS recons you'd prefer all 956 people in your organization to just be an uncategorized stream of names
    - Join a meeting outside of Teams via provided phone number link? Nope, the software has no concept of extended DTMF codes (really). It doesn't even understand "+" in front of the country/US code
    - Join a meeting initiated from your other device (really the only redeeming feature of Teams ecosystem)? Nope again
    - Video meeting? Are you insane, who'd support such feature in 2022!?
    - Wanna have the phone notify you of upcoming meeting? Nope again. And after the screen-saver comes on it won't even wake up automatically
    - Chat for some unexplained reason is not supported, because you know, Android phones have no keyboard, right + who cares what other meeting participants are typing.
    - Voicemail? Nope. The button is there, you know for a fact a message was left, but as far as the phone is concerned nobody called you.
    - It's also pretty laggy, a bit strange given that Teams firmware is all this phone runs.
So, as a simple Teams-To-Teams communication device, it (mostly) works. But not as anything else even within Teams.

Wow, thanks for all the details. Great for anyone expecting this phone to do it all.

    2 Questions...
    1. Can you use teams chat on the phone?
    2. Can you configure an automatic Signed Out after a period of inactivity to allow for a community type of phone?

I find that traditional phones are only good for phone numbers that are not tied to a person that has a primary device and smartphone. Using a primary device and a smartphone with a quality bluetooth headset or "puck" speakerphone is a way better solution for the long run. Management of Teams phones that are running Android 9 is a security problem for your IT department. Instead of buying a fancy Teams phone, buy them a really nice puck/headset combo instead and after a small learning curve they will be happier.
