Jon Lord - Pictured within (In memory of my Dad who played this song often, and was one of his favorites. Now it's one of my most loved songs as well.) Here be friends... Here be heroes... Here be sunshine... Here be grey... Here be life... Here love lies bleeding... Memories so hazy... And dreams that drove me crazy. Here be dawn... Here be paradise... Here be starbright... Here be pain... Here be smiles in eyes like rainbows... My father and my mother... My sisters and my brother. Pictured within... Where there're shadows in prime moonlight... There are dragons I have slain... And here be bright eyes with hair so golden... Sunrise and sunset and running free... And laughing at the rain. Here be home... Here be travellin'... Here be thunder... Here be blue... And sometimes heaven and thoughts of wonder... The miracle of children... A poet and a pilgrim. Kith and kin - pictured within. Lose and win - pictured within .
This song means so much to me. I first heard it when my Dad was dying from cancer while I was pregnant with first child. My father died one week beаore she was born. This song helped me to live through that difficult period
I have featured this song many times on my radio station, but just now listening to this on a day off, I spoke to Jon just before he died, and was able to tell him that he produced one of the most beautiful albums ever.
It is not "one of" the greatest songs ever performed....this is IT! NEVER will you see such perfection of performance, mood, professionalism, and a song with a theme of our dreams and their ability to reach into the past, into dreams beyond our reality... this is a miracle... This cannot be topped....
Stumbled on this by chance . What a fantastic piece of music . I never realised Miller was such a great singer . First class performance by Jon & Miller .
this is great. i never heard it before. there were periods in my life where i did not have access to current music. i am making up for it now and ever since the early internet
Au Revoir Big Guy!...Such a huge talent and yet such a modest Gentleman, you were a massive part of my teenage years. Yesterday I lost a bit of myself, when I heard the news. Thanks for all you gave to this world Jon. A world in need of some uplifting.....
I am highly recommending that people listen to this song if they are going through grief issues. I personally lost my mother only a month ago and this song has helped ease my grief. Really, this song is one of the most simple yet complex explorations of the soul and human spirit. My mother and my father, my sisters and my brother, pictured within for eternity. I played Josh Groban's '"To Where You Are" as well as this masterpiece over and over to help me grieve.
Absolutely wonderful song Jon. I met you and Purple during the Perfect Strangers tour after the Long Beach, California show (Hyatt) and I remember saying to you, "I was listening to Mandrake Root on the way to the concert" and you said "yes, that was such a very long time ago". That re-union concert was/is one of the most memorable moments of my life. Thank you so much :) Les
Today this world has lost the most outstanding composer of the past 100 years!!! Rest in peace Jonand thank you very much for all the joy you have given to my lief! Love you man!!!!
I 've sent this love song to my friend girl , she have listened to , then replied me in this way , she have told me this :Daniel , if this is the music you love , I can only love you even more because only a sensible soul can appreciate it.What better than this?
I became aware of this track and of the album thanks to this live DVD /CD.. I then followed what Jon Lord had done as a solo artist (after his seventies albums that I knew and were very different). Pictured Within is a magnificent album, and the title track is a masterpiece. What amazed me is not to know this singer, Miller Anderson, who's actually more a blues guitar player, I finally discovered ! He sings this so beautifully... R.I.P. Jon Lord....
I had that luck to see it in Prague in 2001 or 2002, I don´t remember date exactly, it had been very very deep trail in my soul. I will love You for my whole life, real Gentleman, real Friend, real Maestro.
In my opinion, the most touching and overall best song he has written. Rest in peace Jon. You always were and always will be my greatest inspiration on these black and white keys.
Miller is my nieces granddad and i have been lucky enough to see him live in various venues over the last 35 + years , him and Fiona are a lovely couple , always very welcoming , long may his talent continue....
Good Lord! We need you! I´ll miss you for always...I was hoping someday cry watching you playing this song and child in time live, now I´m crying. Stay rocker as usually!
About once a moth or two, I get hopelessly emotional, thinking of my dear friend Jon, having a few drinks and forget about life around me completely. He jest can't be replaced!
I am always astounded with joy when I hear this song. What feeling, What soul stirring words. Not at all surprised that this emanated from a man who really knew how to capture the soul in his art. I am sure that anyone who encountered him was filled with his joy and positive energy. My heart still soars when I here this today. And, surely this man is watching us from paradise and he is still and always will be with us in his music forever, Amen.

Gorgeous, worlds an emptier place without you Jon x I recall listening to Lazy from Machine Head, it gripped me, to this day I still get goose bumps from listening to you and Blackmore duelling through the years. I salute you Jon RIP my friend xx
And I who thought that was Wake me up before you go-go by Wham :) Well, if you would believe the average radio deejay, it seems to be songs like that. Have you ever heard this masterpiece on any radiostation ? Because if so, the deejay who selected it deserves a golden medal !
Waw. Now this is beyond the spiritual. This is what music should do to u. Or it ain't music. We loved you John. Wherever u are now, I hope your at peace. Xxxxx

I am proud to say I was there and not only that but my 10 year old son also came with me he is now 34 years old and he still remembers this song
This song means so much to me. I first heard it when my Dad was dying from cancer while I was pregnant with first child. My father died one week beаore she was born. This song helped me to live through that difficult period
It was the same for me. My father has died when I was pregnant in 1997. And this song will be "my song" to say "goodbye" one day, too.....
This is the finest song I've ever had the pleasure of discovering
I never get tired of listening to this! Amazing!
I have featured this song many times on my radio station, but just now listening to this on a day off, I spoke to Jon just before he died, and was able to tell him that he produced one of the most beautiful albums ever.
