    I strongly recommend their stage videos. You can just see how much every member likes to perform the song and how even more confident and healthier they are in this comeback. I don't know why, but it sounds even better when they are performing it. Maybe it's because, as you said, the song is more of a performance song than a melodic one

    Ofc your opinion is respected but I gotta say what makes stray kids stray kids is how they make things complicated so you can never guess what can come next. The fans really like that cause its what makes us excited to listen to all the tracks, and therefore not get bored or dissapointed with the songs because everytime we listen to the track we still cant tell what will happen next even if we know the song by heart. Their songs are seriously like rollercoasters so i believe they trully do deserve all the fans they have and all the popularity theyre gaining day by day

    I have to reply to other comments clarifying that this album isn´t cataloged as rock genre... stray kids already explained on some interviews and the "intro" video that they use "rock-star" as a lifestyle kind of metaphor (and more so in terms of kpop idols). Personally 5-star will keep to be my favorite album BUT I love every single song specially LALALALA and the rock ver. Getting into K-pop thanks to Stray Kids and coming from a classic rock/alternative background made me fr love and appreciate the songs from this era a lot!

    You know, since you talked more about rock with Blind Spot and how that something is missing, the thing with rock in Stray Kids is something that I think they have to learn to handle better if they want to continue using it. What I mean is that for example, with the rock version of LALALALA it is really "flat", the original song is a banger but the rock version is just guitar and loud drums but there is no change in the rhythm. They are very good at using their genre (mala-taste) but rock is definitely not their strongest genre and I really wish they could learn more about it and continue using it because songs like Limbo are so beautiful, the arrangements of that song sound very simple at first hearing but seriously, it's a very well handled rock-ballad song. In fact, I think it's the song that was handled the best because even Can't Stop also sounds quite flat in terms of rhythms. I'm not saying it's bad, but there's a lack of more knowledge and I think that once Stray Kids knows how to use rock, they'll eat the industry ahshshs. Anyway I really liked this album, Lee Know had a lot of lines and that makes me happy, I really missed your reactions to SKZ so obviously I'll be waiting for more.

    • @Koko3op
      @Koko3op  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Love this comment because I had similar thoughts when I listened to the rock vers too. I expected it to be restructured and have a true rock feel rather than a shallow take on what rock is! I hope they do grow into it more.

    • @dewimaheswari8509
      @dewimaheswari8509 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      i kinda agree with you.. skz just need more experience at handling rock music.. compared to their mala sound, the rock sound a bit too flat. imho they need to use han’s scratch high-note voice more to make a climax. remember when he sang one ok rock at lee mujin? yeah i want that sound more!!

    • @ximenafrega
      @ximenafrega 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The title says it, it's a Rock version not a new song. And more than Rock, I would actually say that it is Metal.
      Stray kids have handled the Rock genre since their beginnings, for example YAYAYA, Cheese and the most recent Hall Of Fame

      @@Koko3op jisung, seungmin and bang chan definitely have more skills when it comes to singing, but the reason why i like jeongin's and lee know's voice more is because they both have very unique voices, it changes the song and the vibe in my opinion, both of them usually get lines that no other member can sing.

    Skz don’t really make songs just to be bside’s though considering how they can replace title tracks and turn them into bsides if they think a different song fits the album more or how they can turn a song that was meant to be a bside in a previous album into a title track. Of course, once the songs are in a set tracklist for an album the title track gets the most attention to production, but some of their bsides could be other groups title tracks

    Ngl this comeback was not my favorite. The concept is rock but there are no distinct rock elements in any of the songs (except the remix of the title track). The title sounds like an unfinished version of Back Door. As 4th gen leaders they should be putting out a more progressive sound, IMO and this just seems like a step backwards. The direction of the group seems lost since Oddinary. That album was so good and had so many diverse sounds. This album the songs blend into one another and the music production is drowning the vocals. I've listened to the album 3 times now and can't hum the melody/tune of any of the tracks. I bet anyone would be hard-pressed to do it.
    it's a 5/10 for me with Blind Spot being my favorite track.
    But yea, I paused on the same MV scenes as you with Hyujin in the white and the dance break.

    • @mirelleniquet4348
      @mirelleniquet4348 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      the thing is that the concept isn't rock as a "rock genre" it is more like feeling like a rockstar and feelings related to that, this I don't understand really well, but it is also a wordplay with the hangul Rock or something like that, so it is not meant to be taken literally as rock genre. I agree that for international listeners won't make much sense, but I can't agree with the Back Door and the stepbackwards opinion though, might not be your cup of tea, but making these as statements is... odd. It's valid you don't like it as much as other albums

    After listening to this song (and a few others from this year), I feel like Kpop (especially the boy groups) are starting to move away from that heavy Hip Hop sound they’ve been doing, and switching to other popular genres such as pop, Rock, RnB, and even Afrobeats.
    Obviously, Hip Hop isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. (Hip Hop & Kpop are like a couple that can’t let go of each other). But I was getting tired of the rap parts they force into every song (not every song needs rapping). So, hopefully they replace the forced hip hop “swag” concepts that every boy group has been doing for years, and move towards songs with more vocals & melody’s. (We’ve started to see this shift to a more sweet & chill image with 5th gen groups like ZB1 and BoyNextDoor, which is refreshing).

      i think skz will insert less rap soon.. vocalracha n leeknow are so into improving their vocal nowadays.. there will be more melody/singing once they are ready..
      but for now let’s be honest, it is still their rapline that’s more outstanding to the crowd.. the raps are what people recognize the most n what differentiate skz from the other kpop groups.. they will progress though, i believe in their ability to improve themselves

    • @dewimaheswari8509
      @dewimaheswari8509 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      oh and i disagree with “forcing the rap”.. skz never force their raps! they love raps so it is natural if they insert raps in every song, especially 3racha. and knowing how talkative they are, of course they need rap to convey more words.. they have a lot to say (according to bangchan at the album intro video)
      and please don’t expect stray kids to follow the trend.. they need their identity more than being accepted by the gp that always following the trend.. just my opinion.

    • @MaryamM98
      @MaryamM98 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dewimaheswari8509 True, I know that what makes Stray Kids special is their rap line. This comment wasn’t specifically about SK, it was about boy groups in general who since 2-4 Gen have mostly used a very rap and hip hop heavy based concept (to fit the trends of the time). I don’t expect Stray Kids to change their identity. I like who they are. They’re a 4 Gen group, so it makes sense for them to stick to what they’ve been doing as seniors in the industry. My comment is about how I find it refreshing that new 5th Gen groups are moving from this rap/ hip hop sound to a more sweet & chill concept.

    I just think many people were "expecting something really specific" like "maybe is like this, or similar to that" and hyped up these expectations, so when the album drops and it doesn't fit your thoughts and specific taste, it feels wrong.
    Saying things like "I would rather have it be like this and that because I like that more and would make me like this more" is not bad per say, but you are trying to make it into something it isn't and wasn't supposed to be and of course you will be dissapointed.

    Just curious, what did you think an album called "Rock Star" was going to sound like? Ballad infused? Pop based? R&B? Stray Kids is pretty transparent with song titles so your commentary was a real disappointment because it was mostly negative, nit picking because you seem to like very few genres of music, and you compared every song with another kpop group.
    Let's be honest, you really don't have an open mind when you compare Stray Kids to others artists. That would be like me comparing Rap music as sounding the same and not recognizing the individual differences in music, lyrics, stage performances, work ethic, or passion. Pretty sure you wouldn't want to be compared to anyone else.
    Megaverse with sexy outfits? That wouldn't have fit the concept or lyrics at all. Megaverse is almost an rock style anthem song talking about the megaverse (think Marvel and the different universes) and if you know Stray Kids, this album is rock infused so having a sexy concept makes no sense. I digress, you are entitled to your own opinion but I believe you missed the concept of that song entirely.
    Again, comparing kpop groups to other kpop groups is being somewhat narrow minded and shows that you don't view their individual differences but rather you are seeing kpop as being all the same which I can promise you, it is not. Without that comment of comparison, I would have said that was your best commentary yet. It would have been better to just say they have high level energy without comparing them to another group.
    Another comparison. . . . I mean, really? Can you not see any groups as individuals and not compare them? You don't like rock music... that much is clear at this point. You wanted pop so none of their music up to your standards. And the reality is, 95% of SKZ music does not have a set rhythm or tempo and I'm pretty sure you already know that.
    I'm going to predict you don't like the last song either. It won't make any sense to you, the rhythm is not consistent and has variations. Oh look, another comparison and nit picking about the genre.. you want more this and that and can't appreciate the song the way it is.
    You might like "Leave" and "Cover Me" as they are more vocal concentrated and softer beats but surprise, the rhythm fluctuates which is pretty much what the millions of fans like - minus you and a very small percentage of people of course. I respect when people just say, it's not my style or doesn't suit me rather than nit picking and comparing. It's comparable to a mother always commenting the negatives in a child instead of listing the positives.
    I'm not saying you should like every song; I'm saying you should probably not compare groups or nit-pick the sound to your liking. If you don't like a genre of music then perhaps, don't react to it or just let them know the song is not your flavor instead of complaining about it or picking it apart with negativity. Of course, you are entitled to your opinion and I'm just here letting you know my opinion of your opinion.

      I’m confused by your comment… I am a hardcore Stay and pretty protective of what people say about the boys (lord knows how much shit they get daily on social media), but he never insulted their work in any way? In fact he says that things aren’t his taste, rather than just being negative to be negative like how some other reactors are. It’s okay to be critical of groups we like, in fact I would encourage it. When someone is musically knowledgeable, of course they are going to make comments, even if they’re not all positive. You also contradict yourself multiple times in this essay you wrote out… you say you don’t like his commentary whatsoever due to it being mostly negative, yet a few paragraphs later you say it was the best commentary aside from the comparison to other groups? I’m not sure what you were trying to accomplish. If you think you’re defending Stray Kids somehow by saying this, I would ask you to think again. They can handle criticism of their music (if for some reason they happen to stumble across this reaction, which we know isn’t entirely unlikely). Nothing he said was malicious or disrespectful.

    I love Stray Kids but this album is definitely missing something, even the title track isn't really giving "Stray Kids". It's as if they prepared the album in a hurry, like "hey the audience is expecting a big comeback so let's just compile an album with any song that we've written in the past that would align with the title Rock-star". It honestly just feels empty. The songs are good, but some sound like they could be released as a SKZ-Record rather than as part of a "major" comeback. As a Lee Know stan, I'm kinda glad that the title track is performance-based however, after waiting with excitement for so long I kinda felt a bit disappointed with the album ngl. Everyone did a great job tho. Kudos to them for even being able to make an album with their crazy schedules and all.

    Firstly, for ‘LALALA’ the chorus sounds like it was inspired by Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” (I mean the song was super popular on social media). Secondly, it’s giving Stray Kids meets Ateez. Especially, the music video with the pirate theme, the rock concept, the flames of fire being used, and the marching band theme. However, those are just some similarities I noticed. The actual song has that Stray Kids “sound”.

    I like the song, but it's definitely mediocre. I'm just getting tired of the noise sound for all of their title tracks. A lot of the elements feel like repeats of former tracks. Ever since I want to say God Menu, they've followed a similar formula for most of their title tracks. It reminds me of Blackpink when every song after du-du-du became the sequel of that.
    The album is good, though. But the title track is a 5.6/10.

      I mean to be fair they've made it very clear that they see God’s menu as the start of their career and their sound so if you haven’t liked their title tracks since God’s Menu maybe skz isn’t your cup of tea anymore, or at least the titles aren’t 🤷🏻‍♀️
      They were still finding their sound in 2018-2019 and then embraced their "noise" in 2020 and onwards. Noise music is part of their sound, especially for title tracks. Ofc you’re entitled to your own opinion and if you don’t like their titles then that’s fine, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say this song was "mediocre", it’s just not your vibe. So yeah I don’t mean to sound harsh or anything so don’t take it that way, but skz enjoy their noise music so if you don’t then that’s a you problem and has nothing to do with how they make their music, that’s all. (:

    • @ProphetMisfit09
      @ProphetMisfit09 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Nathalie_Loves_HanJisung_03 In my opinion, the song is mediocre. Never said I didn't like any of the title tracks since God Menu, I said they all have the same sound as God Menu. I can acknowledge if the music is the same and still like or dislike the other songs. Seeing as I started, my initial statement with "I like the song".
      I stand firm by what I said, their sound needs to adapt and change. You saw criticism and your first response is to defend and then project a notion that I no longer like the group because I have critiques or criticism about aspects of their music. A fan is allowed to have and share those feelings about the artist's music; they would not be fans if they did not. If you cannot handle seeing someone critique or give their criticism, I suggest ignoring those comments.
      You achieve very little when you make assumptions and try to tell someone who is a fan of an artist or group, something that they are already aware of.
      Have a good day.

      @@ProphetMisfit09 You say their sounds needs to adapt and change but that’s just your opinion tho. They don’t "need" to do something just because you want it. They can do whatever they want and those who like it like it and those who don’t don't, it’s as simple as that. If the music they make isn’t what you want it to be then their music isn’t for you so don’t expect them to change it to cater to your preferences. (:
      And because you called the song mediocre and gave it a low score and proceeded to say that you’re tired of their repetitive noise music I assumed that meant you weren’t very fond of their title tracks, which I think is a fair assumption to make based on how your worded your comment. But my mistake I guess.
      I just don’t think you should treat your opinion as facts and expect skz to follow your advice just because you don’t like their formula for making title tracks, that’s all. Music is subjective, just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean it "needs to change". Ofc you’re free to come with criticism but the issue is when you treat it like a fact and not an opinion that’s entirely your own. This is the last comment I'll make about this so don’t expect a reply, bye now. (:

Once again, my opinion, I'm fully allowed to give that while knowing very well that they can do whatever they want.
      If I feel they NEED to change their sound, then that is how I FEEL about that topic. I'm not going to change anything because you are in your feelings over MY opinion.
      In the future, ignore the comments of people who have their own opinions. You obviously have an issue with accepting that fact. It will be the best option to avoid you wasting their time and them wasting yours.
