I was never into Lorna Shores type of music before but when i heard them with Will last year I'm really staring to like and appreciate all the work and talent
When this cover dropped I knew that I was going to love it more, not taking anything away from the original. Will and Vessel are my favorite vocalists in metal today. They are both vocal unicorns. I hope you are doing better Chels.🙏❤
I am not a huge Sleep Token fan (yet…just started listening), but this was fantastic. I can not get enough. I didn’t think I could love Will Ramos more.
Vessel's voice is so unique and developed that I don't think anyone can do it like he does. I did love the Hypnosis cover Will did though.
Agreed. They are both very different vocalists, but both very good in their own rights.
Vessel has a very familiar voice. The lead vocalist of Khemmis sounds very similar to Vessel. The forest rangers have a similar vibe as well.

I would also say equal because they each did it in their own way and I get what Mat means about Vessel's vibrato but I just don't mind it at all 🤣 . I do also hope Will is gonna do some more clean singing because it's absolutely beautiful 😍

Personally I think Will's cover is better than the original. I've listened to both and Will's cover is the one that definitely stick a lot more to me and the one that I'd listen more than just once for sure. I do agree that, at least for this song in particular, Vessel's voice is a bit too unnecessarily tremoling and that Will made it justice by going nice and smooth and clean with the bit of spicy scream in the middle. But that smoothness took the whole song to much higher place than the original in my opinion, effectively making that his own take and frankly, I love when someone doesn't just copy the original but make it even better.
Agreed!!!!!! Vessel's is too muddled and yes Vessel is trying to give a dark smokey tone
I have always enjoyed Vessel's sound a lot, this is not particularly my favorite track by them, but Will's cover was amazing. May sound a bit self centered but as a lower baritone/bass sort of voice, I tend to really stick with singers that I can actually emulate and sound like while singing along, and though I am NOWHERE near as good as Vessel or Will, I find Sleep Token songs fairly easy to sing too in most places because I have a similar tone and gravitate towards a similar style as Vessel.
@@upsidedownpyramid7617 I appreciate you actually giving a constructive criticism towards both parties I as well gravitate to lower singers being a mezzo soprano so can completely understand why you'd gravitate to towards Vessel's voice. His voice is super smooth and is able to genre hop which is massively important these days and Will is a beast that is able to enunciate no problem with harsh vocals just this cover was very well done have much respect for both artists and huge fan of both just definitely chokehold most definitely was dragging a bit I liked how Will gave it the Will kiss of heaviness lol
@@beautifuldisaster848 It is super nice to hear, Vessel rarely screams in his music but when he does its always really good, I like that will adds more harsh vocals in with his own flare. I am personally a big fan of songs like Vore, Granite, Aqua Regia, The Summoning, and Bloodsport. Chokehold never did it for me but you can't deny either singer's talent. I can see how the overuse of vibrato and the smoky sexual kind of tone can be a bit overdone and kill the vibe in Vessel's case though. I like it in some places but could do without it in others, it absolutely fits the vibe of the band though, considering all of the music is sort of this concept of a sort of sexual or romantic approach to the worship of a deity. The lyricism is on point, it always has multiple meanings depending on how you read it.
@@upsidedownpyramid7617 definitely agree they definitely have a sexual undertones but that extremely purposeful but that is the sensual jazzy flare that obviously the band enjoys to play and Vessel enjoys singing in and is comfy in it works extremely well I actually really love Rain and this is tough because I honestly love the album a lot are you really ok I like his prospective for it also love bloodsport, alkaline, Calcutta, the love you want, and missing limbs. Honorable mention granite

Which do I prefer? Will's version, 100%. Personally, while I respect your opinion, I feel your criticism of Vessel for this song is a little much. That being said, Will absolutely blows the original out of the water. No contest, it's definitely the superior version.

I don't know if I would say its better IMO, I am with Chels in saying I like them equally, Sleep Token is very much a sort of mood thing for me, I go to them if I want a nice sensual twist of different genres. Will is a different vocalist though and I think his take was phenomenal. With the screams and everything else from a technical standpoint Will mopped Vessel by adding in harder techniques to the mix of the original, but that doesn't make me like the original any less.

I completely agree with you. I'm not sure why but I cannot get into the vocals from Vessel. Not saying Sleep Token isn't incredibly talented but I cannot help but prefer Wills vocals. I would probably be into Sleep Token way more if Will was the lead.

yeppppp. Vessel sounds kind of sloppy in a way that doesn't fit with Sleep Token's very clean, heavily-produced music. If their style was grittier and grungier, it would be perfectly fine-- akin to Peter Steele and Type O Negative, in my opinion.
I can probably get used to his voice and grow to like Sleep Token, but right now I honestly only like Will's covers...
