This song has a very deep meaning to me. My writing teacher in middle school who was the most amazing soul. He was my mentor and was many students mentor. The summer after we left middle school he was tragically murdered. A senseless crime. This song was his favorite song and would always play it in class. This is where the story gets filled with kindness that still gives me chills. Somehow word got to Zane Williams and he came to his service and played this song on acoustic. So for that thank you.
Heard Zane and Wilder Blue last night at the Green Apple concert and was blown away. His song called Pablo and Maria was an emotional experience...he puts his heart and soul into the singing of the refrain, "Maria, I love you". I wept. I am now your newest and biggest fan, and will do my best to see y'all perform again. Thank you.
I heard this song on 99.5 the Ranch this morning and had to look it up. I don't know why I have never heard it before. It's sad and beautiful. I love that it tells a story even one that's heartbreaking.
Saw this song when Zane was on Texas Road Tripper or some show like that years ago. Had to look it up. Now I come back to listen to it now and then. It's stuck with me over the years as one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
This is the amazing song i have ever herd. Imagine the pain both Pablo and Maria exsperanced. That would be unbearable to stand. The most tragic yet melodic songs in history
Pablo Escavado took Maria for his bride Dead of winter 1885 A bitter snow was falling as a dozen ragged men Surrounded the little chapel, trapping Pablo in They called out “Surrender or we’ll burn the whole place down.” Pablo whispered “Death can’t hurt me know” “Stay here my Maria, and remember me this way” Then he kissed her lips and they dragged him away. She heard him, calling to her “Sweet Maria, can you hear me?” Muffled echoes up and down the frozen canyon walls “Maria, how I love you.” Till the lonesome sound had nowhere else to go And it was swallowed in the January snow Silence fell; the solemn priest said “God will avenge my child” Maria just stared right through him, hollow eyed and wild Stumbling into the muddy street she lifted her eyes to see, The twisting awkward silhouette now still beneath the tree No one dared to touch her and she left her lover there And ran down to the river, with the wind whipping her hair The snowflakes swirled behind her like the finest flowing train And the north wind moaned and whispered, as if it knew her name she swore she, still heard him calling “Sweet Maria, can you hear me?” Muffled echoes up and down the frozen canyon wall “Maria, how I love you” Till she reached the edge of the river far below And leapt into the January snow If you’re ever down in Texas in the January snow And you hear a mournful whisper in the North wind as it blows You may feel the lonesome presence of a lady all in white Weeping in the distance, just out of your sight
Song still gives me chills every time I hear it. It's such a haunting sound. I can just imagine everything happening in the song. I think this would make for an AMAZING video!

They played this song recently in Placerville CA at Delfino Farms. Such a beautiful song. The crowd was silent and hung on each word. It was awesome.

This song is so beautiful but so sad.
Pablo Escavado took Maria for his bride
Dead of winter 1885
A bitter snow was falling as a dozen ragged men
Surrounded the little chapel, trapping Pablo in
They called out “Surrender or we’ll burn the whole place down.”
Pablo whispered “Death can’t hurt me know” “Stay here my Maria, and remember me this way”
Then he kissed her lips and they dragged him away.
She heard him, calling to her “Sweet Maria, can you hear me?”
Muffled echoes up and down the frozen canyon walls
“Maria, how I love you.”
Till the lonesome sound had nowhere else to go
And it was swallowed in the January snow Silence fell; the solemn priest said “God will avenge my child”
Maria just stared right through him, hollow eyed and wild
Stumbling into the muddy street she lifted her eyes to see,
The twisting awkward silhouette now still beneath the tree
No one dared to touch her and she left her lover there
And ran down to the river, with the wind whipping her hair
The snowflakes swirled behind her like the finest flowing train
And the north wind moaned and whispered, as if it knew her name
she swore she, still heard him calling “Sweet Maria, can you hear me?”
Muffled echoes up and down the frozen canyon wall
“Maria, how I love you”
Till she reached the edge of the river far below
And leapt into the January snow
If you’re ever down in Texas in the January snow
And you hear a mournful whisper in the North wind as it blows
You may feel the lonesome presence of a lady all in white
Weeping in the distance, just out of your sight
Hauntingly beautiful.
Beautiful storytelling. This is what is missing from mainstream country.

No. Also, aren't Mexicans white?
have you ever seen a Mexican next to a white ? they are not the same
I know plenty of Mexicans who are just as white as europeans. Most I recken are either partly white or white.
