Nice talk But Kafi isn’t a folk song of Punjab it’s a form of poetry. Baba Bulle Shah, Shah Husaain and Khwaja Ghulam Farid penned so many Kaafis. And it’s singing style is considered as semi classical singing. For example you can find several Kaafis on TH-cam sung by Zahida Parween, Hussain Bakhsh and many more
This part of the lecture took 55 minutes but without the core content or understandable examples. And there are no written notes. What's the point in singing the bandish with words instead of sargam for the student? Where are the notes? The additional background is nice, but without more emphasis on the core notes and examples, it is a waste of time in my humble opinion.
Traditionally, compositions are taught to students without their notations. The system of notation in Hindustani classical music is rather new. Moreover, most of the bandishes she sings in this program are taken from Kramik Pustak Malika of Pt. Bhatkhande, which is one of the standard books for music students. Also, there are episodes where she has taught the notation of the bandish.
