This video was spectacular, particularly at the ending with the group singing "The Wild Rover" culminating with the concertina playing that hauntingly delightful tune. EXCELLENT...I was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army (1964-66) at Munster bei Dieburg Kaserne. ...loved Germany.
The greatest folk group ever ! No folk group ever assembled will match the unified talents of Barney McKenna , John Sheahan, Ciaran Bourke , Ronnie Drew and Luke Kelly .
+Kade Davis For me, the Dubliners had fine instrument playing as well as the two remarkable voices of Ronnie Drew and Luke Kelly. The Clancys and Tommy Makem were all good singers and were way ahead in their harmonies. The Fureys and Davey Arthur sang Irish romantic sons brilliantly. The Wolfe Tones put great passion into the songs of revolution and oppression. All were great bands with different styles and it would be wrong to say one was better than the others.
I am an Indian and I do not understand all the words they say but I love the music nonetheless. I got introduced to the Dubliners in St john's Newfoundland, Canada. I was in an Irish bar and the band there played songs like "Rocky Road to mountain, Drunken Sailor, whisky in the jar and Raglan Road" I was so, so, impressed with these songs that i went upstage and asked the band members about the artist and that's how I got to know Luke Kelly and the Dubliners. Been listening to dubliners since then and they never fail to make me happy.
Every single member of the Dubliners has been awesome and when I saw them in concert in 1988 the lineup was Barney Banjo Mckenna John Sheehan Ronnie Drew Sean Cannon and Eamon Campbell
I love this group and have done so for nearly 60 years. Sad so many have passed away but they will live on through their music and recordings like this. Bravo !
If you're to be disliking this video then, well, I suspect there's not a thought inside your head, dead man. Blessed be these fine people who have touched so many a lives
I saw a concert of the dubliners in 1975 in heerenveen the thialf icehockeyhall and it was amazing . about 600 spectators and i was there with my girlfriend bout 15 years old it was an amazing experience with Luke Kellly Jim Mc Cann as wel i loved it and its still in my Hart.Menno Bonnema.
I would congratulate'TH-cam' on a marvellous collection of great music. I knew Ronnie Drew well because I come from Dunlaoghaire and we used to play snooker in Wafers Billiard Saloon. Great days. It's a shame Ronnie and Barney are no longer with us, not forgetting Luke Kelly and the others who are no longer with us. Ronnie did a bit of acting with my cousin John Molloy in the Gate theatre. Great memories. Phil Kane
It was really sad that we lost Barney so close to their 50'th anniversary :( But at least they made had a wonderful concert in Copenhagen. Where we could watch great memories from Barneys glorious career :) Me and a great friend watched them for the first time in 2003 and continued going to their concerts as long as they continued coming to Denmark :)
I agree with you it is marvelous to find these together at one place. I remember in Dublin and in any other points I went when I spent three months going to different areas searching for as much music as I could find getting the standards and learning about the others. It was funny how after the almost the second day I bored of castles and monasteries and quit taking pics of them. My real vacation was in talking with the Irish those who were like myself. I became a wee rude when I wanted to flip someone off who was filming me with their camcorder a mate of mine laughed and said funny your a Canadian whose getting filmed as if local boy. I guess the red hair helped. I'll never forget the friends I made or the times we shared.
Those old irish men make such a good music. sometimes ive problems to understand some gaelic words, but allways love the songs..And everybody should see them at a live-concert, greatful.
Absolutely fabulous, thanks for sharing. I spend a great deal of time playing along with the Dubliners on my mandolin but I can't get anywhere near many of the reels, hornpipes etc that Barney and John play. They are without doubt the very best of their genre. I loved to see them join in with local musso's and would have given my eye teeth to be one of them. They obviously cared a great deal for each other and that always comes across in their concerts. RIP Barney, Luke, Ronnie, Ciaran, you will never be forgotten.
Heard this for the first time last night and apart brom Barney and John of the original Dubliners, I apologise for saying, it was dire! My God the life of Luke Kelly and Ciarain Bourke left such a hole in what was a 100 star group. Thankfully, we have recordings etc., of the really great singers, bless them all, the living and the dead.
Eamon is the man, great. I have always seen how he called John the maestro but he is impressive too, as was Barney. Well, all of them. Luke and Ciaron too.
Just finished watching. What a gem, feels like you're on tour with them! Thank you so much for uploading! All such unique personalities making great music together. Rest in peace Ronnie, Barney and Eamonn. I never saw The Dubliners live unfortunately, but was honoured to meet and shake hands with Seán Cannon last week after a great concert of The Dublin Legends here in Belgium. He's 82 and still touring, talk about dedication!
Unglaublich!!!
I only "discovered" this group a few weeks ago as I browsed TH-cam. Of course, my "discovery" is like Columbus "discovering" this continent, only after his "Indians" had been here centuries before 1492. I've watched and listened to them by the hour. I searched the 'Net in the effort to identify the members who were on the 40th anniversary reunion: Barney McKenna, John Sheahan, Ronnie Drew, Sean Cannon, Paddy Reilly, and Eamonn Campbell. Words fail me in my effort to explain why and how they drew me in.But draw they did.
Me and my family always listened to this band on cassete tapes when we went on holiday and they have always been the band playing in my mind when I think of happy memories :) Today's the anniversary of my fathers death and I'm listening to this band thinking of the happy memories I have of my old man. Accidentally or incidentally the Dubliners just happened to be the greatest folk band, ever
Accidentally actually
Quoting from the incomparable Ronnie Drew himself

Great, and the only one of the originals left now is John Sheehan, the fidlle player.
At least he aged the best out of all the Dubliners.
Ravi Shankar, what a musician he was.
What year were the dubliners in St.John's newfoundland
John O'Connor actually John joined two years after the band formed, the last original Dubliner alive was Barney McKenna
Every single member of the Dubliners has been awesome and when I saw them in concert in 1988 the lineup was Barney Banjo Mckenna John Sheehan Ronnie Drew Sean Cannon and Eamon Campbell
Not forgetting luke kelly ❤
Barney McKenna, the greatest banjo player to have every lived
Ye will never get the likes of our Barney MC Kenna one of the greatest singer ever rest in pease Barney MC Kenna miss you keep singing in heaven

Es ist faszinierend zu sehen, welche historische Aufnahmen hier zu sehen sind. Es erfüllt mich mit Wehmut, dass es nicht mehr wiederholbar ist
Golden! Don't ever let this die EVER. Ever......

You are entitled to your opinion.
By far and away the greatest band of all time.
lovely to see all the guys together. too many of them have passed by already. a pleasure anyway.
Everyone in The Dubliners are truly unique in their own way but John Sheahan is really something special, musically and technically speaking. Wow!
plus he was always the sober one and the healthy one out of the bunch and the most level headed person
Good ol' Dubs . I've only seen them with Luke .miss him and the Marlin 5 string banjo.
These guys play their asses off, and I LOVE it
