  • Been a long time coming but Nik finally gets around to swapping out the stock reservoir brake fluid reservoir on the Z900rs.
We have been planning to do this for a while but was waiting for the new bars before we did the swap.
Mike drops by to help out and guide us as he has don't his once or twice before. Lots of PRO TIPS!

Sorry a year late to the party, I just picked up my 2020 Z900RS and one of the first things I did was to swap out the existing reservoir bracket with one off the Cafe ($6 and slightly longer hose $5) which moves it rearward of the handlebars. No more specimen jar floating in space.

Tex Mex, I saw a Cafe and a standard RS side by side and noticed that difference in reservoir positioning. The Cafe's is MUCH tidier!

Imo a direct fit reservoir looks better without the hose . But each to their own .
You don’t need to empty and bleed the system .
Remove the old reservoir . DO NOT TOUCH BRAKE LEVER . Leave all existing flluid in the caliper and lines and M cylinder .
Fit new reservoir and top up level . SLOWLY depress lever a few times . To force new fluid into the system and to test all ok.
Any small amounts of air trapped will release into the new reservoir. I apply a tie wrap the brake lever yo operate the brake overnight . This will remove any trapped air .
Next day test ride if all good .

andy blackburn Two factors at play here. Firstly we really wanted to show a ‘whole process’ so people knew how it works, what to do and how to do it.....secondly, Mike insisted that we do a full bleed and he ain’t a man to argue with when it comes to bike work. Haha

Since the Kawa Z900RS has ABS, is the procedure of bleeding the same? Asking because I want to do this to my own as well. Thanks.

Anandaru D. Putra Haha I am sure I can do a new review of the bike. It’s had a lot of changes since I got it so maybe it’s worth doing a new vid. 👍
