That’s a lot tractors to maintain💰. Lol I used to think maintaining 1 articulated and 2 large 2 wheel drives was expensive. I wouldn’t even know where to start with 4-5 articulated tractors, not to mention keeping good quality tires on them. You’d almost have to rob a bank to put 8 radials on just one of those. Also, I use to buy and fix older tractors and dozers and use them. It definitely costs a lot of money to resurrect machines that have set for a long time. Looking back I probably should’ve left them lay. I ended up spending more on bringing them back to operational condition than they were worth. I could have bought ones that were in a lot better condition for the same money or maybe less. Being a heavy equipment field mechanic helped, but it still wasn’t a sound investment for me. But I did get a ton of experience doing it. Have a great day!
Yea, this is the other side of tractor revival that not many talk about here on TH-cam. It costs so much to get them back in good shape. It also costs a lot to maintain; thats why we cycle a few tractors each year for use. People think they are saving money when they buy tractors that need work. By the time you fix it up good you are around the price of a good ready to work field ready tractor. It's a money pit but like you said it gives you a lot of experience which is always welcome!
I would love to see video of that pin being replaced and apart! That is stuff we don't get to see every day. Sure to be an interesting process. However, I know it's not always possible to video everything. I thought you were in Texas, not California, not sure where I got that idea from. Anyways good video.
When we start working on the pin I will do my best to film it. If I can show how we fix it and someone finds it useful when working on theirs then that makes me happy.
The short answer is no. We don't have a pan but it would be nice because sometimes we need a way to pick up dirt and drop it where we need it. Have seen a few good pans but are too much money. The only machine we would hook up to a pan would be the PTA because it has all the laser stuff; but because we don't have a pan we will remove that system and keep it incase we get one later down the road.
Great video 👍

Changing oil in a 3406 is like a pal stated about eating watermelon. 'If you don't get it all over you, you ain't eating it right'. Blessings!
That is the funniest analogy I have ever heard lol 😂😂😂
@@TheSteigerChannel I never saw him change oil in a 3406 BUT he was a pastmaster in hiding a watermelon!

Steps for the PTA 325
The Bearcat III steps might fit the right side of the PTA. Maybe you can find some Bearcat steps at one of your vendors.
Yea I will have to add one.

Are you guys going to hook these machines up to pans?

Move the heck out of California!
The only question is "how to leave and take all the tractors with me?" 🤔🤔
Big money pit to go back and forward.
