      Harper, Raisin Bran is high in Total Carbohydrates because raisins are high in naturally occurring sugars. The key is to look under Added Sugars because that tells you how much sugar is added to the cereal. Every 4 grams equals 1 teaspoon. Eva would probably really like Cascadian Farms Raisin Bran. I don't think they add sugar to the raisins and there's only 7 grams added sugar.

      This needs to have a part 2 and a part 3 for more cereals. Like the Halloween ones (Count Chocula, Booberry and Frankenberry), Frosted flakes, Captain Crunch/Crunchberries, Corn Pops, Special K (especially the one with Strawberries), Cookie Crisp, Rice Krispies (and yes, Rice Krispy Treats) and the worst cereal of all time....grapenuts....because everyone should have to suffer eating grapenuts just once.

    Raisins themselves are totally dense in sugar. So, even without a lot of added sugar they already have a ton.

    • @g33xzi11a
      @g33xzi11a 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      But it’s also misleading if you only consider the sugar as a number in a vacuum and not how it’s actually released. Fruits, especially certain dried fruits like raisins, dates, prunes, and figs, release their sugar much more slowly and are less taxing on the insulin cycle. On top of that much of their sugar is in other forms than just sucrose or fructose, like sugar alcohols or allulose thanks to the drying process. All sugars aren’t the same. Raisin Bran has more total sugar than most breakfast cereals based solely on the inclusion of raisins but it’s a lot, lot better for human metabolism and is going to lead to longer-lasting energy and satiety than slow-baked starch crackers coated in pure sugar, even more so when the fiber in both bran and raisins is considered.

    • @natviolen4021
      @natviolen4021 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The sugar you find on the ingredients list refers to added sugar and does not include natural sugars from fruits etc. The latter is included in the sugar part of carbs in the nutrition values.
      So if you have an ingredients list of f.ex sugar 10%, raisins 2%, you have 10% of added sugar plus the natural sugar from the raisins.

    • @JAT985
      @JAT985 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the serving sizes of the more sugary cereals are usually a lot smaller, mass wise. If you equalize them all to say, per 100grams the other cereals tend to be a LOT more sugary. Its very easy to lie on a nutrition label by changing the serving size. make the serving size smaller, and there is suddenly less sugar per serving!
      A 'serving size' of Froot Loops is 39 grams. A 'serving size' of Raisin Bran is 59 grams.
      so Froot Loops is 30.77 grams of sugar per 100g of cereal (and 87.17 grams of carbs). Raisin Bran is 28.81 grams of sugar per 100 grams of cereal (79.66 grams of carbs). but the labels say that Froot loops is 'only' 16g of sugar per serving, verses 17g of sugar for raisin bran. so your average mom or dad who is looking for 'healthier' cereals will see that it only has 16g of suagr compared to raisin brans 17g! bam, tricked into thinking candy is a healthy cereal.
      the Raisin bran has 52.9% of its sugar added in, so the other 47.1% of its sugar is from the raisins. The Froot Loops is 100% added sugar, of course.

      @@Black_Fence lol. It's really just because most of the time, in Italian, an "H" at the beginning of a word isn't pronounced like it is in American English. If you listen for it, you'll hear that pretty much any time there's a word starting with "H", it isn't pronounced. As for Eva's name, if you listen to her self introduction, the "E" is pronounced (like an American "short E",) "eh". So, while Harper may go a bit too far into a "long A" sound, it's still pretty accurate. :)

She'd also hide the grain flavors by putting in a tiny bit more seasonings and some tomato juice, which she and I made every year, the past 3 were the only years we didn't can tomato juice, and I miss doing that with her. Indeed, but the expression "most unhealthiest" is not among them. English grammar does not permit double superlatives, nor does it generally permit the suffix "-est" in adjectives of more than two syllables. So assuming "unhealthy" is itself a real word, "unhealthiest" is not. The correct superlative of "unhealthy" is "most unhealthy," and in terms of style, "least healthy" might be better in some contexts.

    I think everyone who was a kid in the 80's and early 90's only had Kellogs Corn Flakes and I'm happy with that.
    I have to say, however, the world of American cereals fascinates me.
    I especially appreciate the cultural exchange. At the idea of giving those soap circles to my children… well you have so much better, dear cousins of America

    If a child eats regularly salty and sweet food, he will crave that taste for all his life considering that's the best taste among all... That's why it's almost cruel feed them with this processed food every day. Obesiity and diabetes are behind the corner. I'm Not a taliban, but don't eat this breakfast every day, there are several alternatives...
    Love to You both 😄
    PS. Pollon will always be the best, with Lady Oscar of corse!!!

    I spent every summer in Venice from 1985-2012 and remember shopping at many food stores. First, there would be lots of different brands of muesli, which is the only cereal I ever saw Italians eat. But there would usually be three American brands on the shelf, all Kellogg's: Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, and Cocoa Krispies.
