- President M. Russell Ballard, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died November 12, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. He was 95.
President Ballard became an Apostle on October 6, 1985. He was announced as Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on January 16, 2018. As with the Apostles in New Testament times, today’s Apostles are called to be special witnesses of Jesus Christ. President Ballard was one of 15 men who oversee the growth and development of the global Church, which now numbers more than 16 million members.
President Ballard will be missed! He was a true Apostle of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. President Ballard dedicated his life to serving God, His Church, and mankind. He will be missed!
❤
President Ballard did so much good behind the scenes that most people will never know about. He ministered to my father who isn’t a member of the church. He wrote him a kind letter. I’ll forever be grateful for his Christ-like love and service.
This is the first I had heard of President Ballard's passing. I am praying for his family. I am glad he has been able to graduate to his next phase in life and join his wife. ❤
Thank you President Ballard, for everything!!!
President Ballard, your passing will surely be missed, and we love you! Everything you did was exemplary.
I was in the missionary choir in October 2022's general conference. It was a landmark moment for me when he thanked us for singing Faith in Every Footstep. I'll miss him dearly, but glad he won't have to miss his dear wife anymore.
I can only think how he's reunited with his wife. What a blessing that is for both of them. What a life he lived.
May all the Ballard family and his wonderful fellow Apostles and leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints find peace and comfort during this time of loss. President Ballard's contributions to the gathering of Israel in the latter-day and the establishment of Zion will never be forgotten. His kindness, humility, and unwavering faith will always be a beacon for those who wish to grow closer to our Savior Jesus Christ.
So sad but so sweet. Rest In Peace President Ballard. You earned it.😌🙏
Thank you President Ballard for everything you have done for this church. May you have peace in the Celestial.
A wonderful man. Dedicated and devoted to God, family, Church and humanity. An inspired leader, constant missionary and encouraging Apostle. I have been greatly blessed by his words, example and life. He has now gone on to the world of Spirits to see his beloved wife again and to continue his ministry in that great field of labour for the salvation of the souls of God's children (Doctrine and Covenants 138). He will be remembered fondly!!
Thanks so much for your consecrated life of service to the Lord and His Church President. God bless you and be with you till we meet again 🙏
"Well Done Good and Faithful Servant Go And Receive Your Rest" We will miss you President Ballard you were always one of my favorites always talked about your grandpa, always talked about our ancestors, and always talked about Joseph and Hyrum. And now you are with them in the presence of our Lord. Your mission is finished but the work of the Lord continues beyond The Vail. We will honor your legacy. #RIPPresidentBallard
His witness of Joseph Smith in the present tense at the most recent conference was insightful. Angels and men will be coworkers in the great work of redeeming Zion and building up the New Jerusalem. I expect President Ballard to join the effort!
I can’t help but think of President Ballards humble and powerful testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith this last conference and of his example of the complete and devoted love that makes for a beautiful marriage. He will be missed!
I'm so grateful for all President Ballard did!!! And while I'm sad we won't see him again in this life, I'm glad he gets to see his dear wife again ❤
God bless this mighty Apostle of Jesus Christ.

I can't believe we'll be without him for a while, such a pure Christlike individual!
What a great man. It is with a surety that he can say "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."

He has been an apostle since I was a teenager and now I'm a senior citizen. It will seem strange not to see him with the other brethern, but you know he is again happy to be with his wife and family. He will be missed.
I had the chance to meet M Russell Ballard while my wife and I were living in Northern Utah, he attended our ward's sacrament meeting for the blessing of a great-grandson. He was an amazing servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He truly was an apostle of Jesus Christ. What a blessing that we have been blessed for his many sermons, and now he is reunited with his wife.
Thank you President Ballard for your lifetime of service in the church and your incredible teachings and example to so many through your life!

To His Family; May Each Of You Be Comforted In Knowing That This Great Man Is Resting With Our Heavenly Father And Our Savior Jesus Christ. You Are All In The Prayers Of Many.
I'm so happy for President M. Russell Ballard. He lived well and now gets to be with his wife again. Nevermore shall they be separated by mortality. They shall surely rise together in the morning of the first resurrection.
I'm so happy for them both. ❤
My heart is broken to these news, but I'm also filled with joy that he will be able to reunite with Barbara and our Savior.
I always held a special love for President Ballard, as a new convert, Our Search for Happiness had immense power to help me change my life and strengthen my bond with Christ, and when he visited my mission in 2005, I learned that what's impossible to do men, it is not to God, when he gave the 120 contacts a week challenge. God bless his family in this moment of temporary separation, and may he enjoy the company of his beloved wife and Savior!
He will be missed. I know he is so happy to be reunited with the love of his life.
President Ballard, met me in the basement of the Salt Lake Temple after just sealing a couple from his home ward. The basement was dark as I assume they were closed because of the Brethren meeting there at that time. While I was lost, i saw President Ballard alone and he asked if I was one of the friends of the groom. Of which I replied I was. He then said: "Are you married." I said "no." He said: "Why not." I replied jokingly as though it wasn't only up to me: "I'm working on it." He said very seriously as though I was one of his children: " You are not working hard enough," and then proceeded to continue his journey. He was Right. I was not working hard enough and I repented shortly after that and my wife and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Thank You President Ballard!
I have grown up watching and listening to President Ballard for 40yrs. How sad to soon see the apostles one by one, leave this mortal life. I can only imagine the sweet joy and reunion with his beloved wife Barbara ❤❤ Homeward bound President Ballard.
Thank you PRESIDENT BALLAR, FOREVER
President Ballard we love you Dearly and thank you for your teachings and love for the members and non members all over the world. Church Leaders, other denomination Leaders, Government Leaders all over the word and people of nations he met as a special witness of Jesus Christ. We are grateful for your love and teachings of the Jesus Christ to all the people of the world including all of us.
His leadership when he was over missionary work for the church was very helpful for me many years ago as a young ward missionary and mission leader. God bless his family during this time of loss.
LDS church needs to allow more millennials in senior leadership roles. Many other churches have 30’s age range senior lead pastors. Many in the 40’s have served for many years by that time.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. But you have access to a computer so you can say all the silly stuff you want.
its not about who the church pics, its about who the Lord calls. just visit a local YSA ward, you'll likely notice several younger adults in leadership positions.
My Husband & I got to shake his hand at a very special adult only meeting. I will never forget that handshake! God Bless you Elder Ballard we love you!
The Lord truly calls wonderful men to be his valiant apostles upon the earth. President Ballard has left a legacy of love, faith, and service that will be forever remembered. We love him dearly.
