On PS4 we definitely need a color grade. I travel for work and I try to play on the road when I'm bored at hotels, but sometimes it's legitimately so dark that it's completely unplayable, even with the TV and in game brightness tweaked. I died in the caves on a peaceful game because I fell in some water while exploring and didn't have the rebreather yet, couldn't even tell up from down, and ended up dying, losing about 2 hours of work.
i just got the game and me and my dad really enjoy doing it, we set up a camp by the beach by the gorge, where cannibals patrol ALL THE TIME, so now we are constantly fighting off canibles and are moving our base soon, i might recommend this for our new base! Edit: I think for decor you should do like a cannibal look. So bone fences and effigys

Also we built a bridge out of docks cuz I thought it would look nice, I built out across the river, but holy crap it was expensive. Atleast it is pleasing to the eye
I really like this design a lot. Going to see how it fairs on the PS4. For setup I would make this boat 3 floors. First floor all for storage racks, water collectors, and a camp fire. Second floor is half the size of the raft with walls and a roof and is the living area for a bed, table, and a butt load of large shelves. Third floor is just the roof, left wide open, and is only for a few gardens and water collectors. Also cover every corner with a standing skull lamp and every wall without windows gets a skull wall candle on the outside. And your standard hanging skull lamps in the living cabin as well.That should light everything up enough to not need the fire pit for light. At least that is my plan if I can copy this in my game. The fertile lands have been really busy my last two play throughs. I can't even build up on the shelf anymore across from the little village, mutants show up every day even though I farm my wood elsewhere and boat it over to my base. Tried to wall off that area with a stone wall but the bastards were coming day and night by day 16. I finally gave up on that game and started a new one where I don't build a base and instead build deadfall trap walls everywhere (Your deadfall circles with a happy birthday trap on twos sides has made mutants a minor bother at worst. Thank you for that tip) and I spend most of my nights resetting traps, burning bodies, and stocking up on bones. Then all the logs I'm gathering can be stockpiled for my base. Wasn't sure where I was going to try and build this time but now I know! Cheers mate!

Great videos Farket. I did something similar on the other side of the peninsula next to the new sea cave entrance. There is a school of fish there so I used your rock pillar method and made a custom floor over the water. I split the floor on the first level in half so a boat can fit through and so you can bow fish from it. Took a while. But it's a finished 4 story boat house and the new chode monster couldn't reach it.

When you mentioned how your partner was distraught at the fact you could kill turtles and then started a killing spree of them, I screeched with laughter because I did the exact same thing when I started playing this game with my boyfriend. Saw him kill any animal that he saw and was like “that’s horrible, I’m not killing a single animal when I get the game” and the moment I got it and played with him I killed so many birds and deer 😂👌❤️
I like to use basicwalls from the ground up to the surface and than put a Headtrophy (Shark or Croc) to the upper one. Then u can put a little rock wall on top and use the FARKET methode. Works pretty well and looks good.
@@Farket Hmm, yeah, even a single log wall segment would look stupid with it's "segmented look." See, this is the issue that people don't seem to talk about much. Minecraft, in all of it's blocky lowres textures is infinitely repurposable. it's like legos, they can go together in any way you want. and they're small pieces. Games like this, like rust, fallout 4, EVERY other damned "crafting/building" game uses these high res assets, that are glitchy, and hard to place, or are restrictive on placement. So long as you build they way they "intended" you're okay. but when you start trying to treat the forest like minecraft shit goes...sideways. glitchy. twisted. and just...WTF. It just feels all hacked and wierd. even if it works, the way the builds look like they're using MLP magic to SOMEHOW cling to each other with NO JOINTERY or hardware...it just....This is why I still play Minecraft. You feel me though, right?
If you place something like the drying rack where your character stands on the pole spot everytime you exit it will launch you to the tops of cliffs like you're cheating way too much. It's great for like looking through the woods in pond filled spots or like having fun getting launched 50 feet in the air.
I still wonder how can you place wooden walls horizontally. I can't manage to do so. Many buildings (that were not meant to build in this game) rely on that
He did actually, in his update video he went through all the new things and video of everything than can and cannot be destroyed now. But he hasn't mentioned it since so I'm sure it will be news to someone who's reading through the comments. A shame too, made for a cheap and easy wall early game if you were based on the beach. But I usually just do a house boat first like Farket. Makes life so much easier when you have a fallback spot that's 100% safe. Just run, sleep, and the crisis is over!

You can place a custom stairs instead of a bridge, just point it slightly down to avoid creating a supporting pillar :)
