- Younger women are now in the streets. The movement they’re leading is educated, liberal, secular, raised on higher expectations, and desperate for normality: college and foreign travel, decent jobs, rule of law, access to the Apple Store, a meaningful role in politics, the freedom to say and wear whatever. They are quite unlike those who came before them; sometimes they feel more like transnational Gen Z than Iranians: they are vegans, they de-Islamicize their names, they don’t want children. I’ve often wondered what has made them so rebellious, because their ferocious character was evident well before 22-year-old Mahsa (Jina) Amini, arrested at a metro station by the morality police who enforce the dress code, died after being held in their custody on Sept. 16, setting off the most sustained uprising in the 43-year history of the Islamic Republic. The average age of arrested protesters is notably low-Iranian officials estimate as young as 15. I can only conclude that when a generation’s aspirations for freedom appear tantalizingly within reach, the more humiliating the remaining restrictions seem, and the less daunting the final stretch of resistance feels.

10 basic human rights that Iranian women are routinely denied:
1) To choose their religious practice (or lack of). Specifically the personal choice regarding wearing hijab.
2) To freely choose their spouse and avoid being forced into arranged marriage as young as age 10.
3) To have equal protection under the law and have judicial recourse in the case of rape and other violence.
4) To obtain a fair divorce from an obusive husband and retain custody of their children.
5) To garner sole home ownership and other property ownership.
6) To have fair and equitable claim to family inheritance.
7) To travel without restriction or permission and freely leave the country.
8) To have access to all forms and levels of employment.
9) To have equal opportunity to own and run a private business.
10) To live free from unwarranted arrests, police brutality and incarceration without trial.

I can't understand why anyone would want to hide away such beautiful women as the Persians is. If they don't want to look at them, I'm happy to. Some of them I could make a painting of and it would rival the Mona Lisa. Hoping for the best for the future for all of Iran. I have a good Iranian man as a neighbor here in Norway and he always say "Hello nice neighbor!" and I say the same to him. 🙂 He asked me one day if I had seen what happened in Iran, and I wanted to say the words "women, life, freedom", but didn't know the Iranian words.
Gen, Gian, Aazaadi.... Gen (or 'Zan' in modern Farsi) is the same origin of English/Greek word for Gene, genetics,genesis etc. It means woman in old persian, because woman is the producer of life or Gian (Zendegi in modern Farsi). Aazaadi has always been the same, means freedom.... Zan Zendegi Aazaadi is the chant you hear on the streets and in some older dialects Gen, Gian, Aaazaadi

Although we Iranians are very thankful for entitling the honour of the heroes of 2022 to Iranian woman, but we are not happy by the one who wrote the article about Iranian Revolution. #Azadeh_Moaveni degraded the reasons of #IranRevolution22 to economical difficulties cause by US sanctions which is exactly the narrative that Islamic Republic and its lobbyists like NIAC and Moaveni trying to tell to western media.
Another cause of this revolution mentioned by her Hijab laws and she said hijab laws have been re-examined throughout the recent years and people can get rid of the denetions for their hijabs by participating in "Hijab Educational sessions" for 1,2 hrs.
Let's not forget that this is exactly what IR state tried to sell to media after the death of #MahsaAmini that she was just attended to these sessions and nothing more happened to her when she was on our custody.
Once again, Iranians aren't protesting morality police or compulsory Hijab but:
-gender apartheid
-forced confession
-no due process
-unfair trials
-extrajudicial killing
