      Yeah, the west of Scotland is unbelievably beautiful. One of our favourite places to sail. So many quiet and protected anchorages, endless hiking options, and the best whisky in the world!!

    Amazing to see Cherry being used for what it was made for. Funny how we were actually talking about it with my mum the other day and then got sent this video link. Cherry Ripe was my parents old boat that was part of a syndicate. Unfortunately my step dad passed away so we sold his part of the share. It got moved from South Queensferry to the west coast and didn't get used very much as far as we were aware. Seems it is not in the right hands. Spent many a day down there helping sort it out so glad to see it in its fully glory. I will be keeping an eye on it journey and so is my mum.

    Wow, now that is the way to start a VLog... As far as a Chapter One, thats gotta be the best I have seen. I am no good behind the camera, nor in front of it... I can fix any dang thing on a boat, from hull to windvane... but the camera work, well.... hands down you two have this nailed. If you ever need a buddy boat (I'm a Swede but in USA PNW area currently) good with a wrench or sail, give me a holler - else I will be following your adventures here at least! May the winds be fair for you two!

    We taught we will never see good sailing channels - most of them are made very bad,
    But then we found your channel; wonderful footage - very good editing - honest talking, you are making films and not bad radio talk shows with some pictures in the background.
    We subscribed, go on like this and let’s make better sailing channels!

    • @waterpeople-expedition
      @waterpeople-expedition  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Emmanuel! Glad you’re liking it :) We didn’t do a great job of documenting the sailing between Scotland and Biscay because we didn’t plan to have a TH-cam channel at that point, so hopefully the next few episodes don’t disappoint. After that it starts ramping up, and our next two upcoming episodes (#12 and 13) have our most serious sailing so far, so stay tuned!

      Thanks that’s incredibly kind!! Scotland was by far the most beautiful place we’ve had the chance to film in. (We didn’t know we were going to start a TH-cam channel so didn’t actually film very much. We’ll have to go back one day and document it more!)

    Great video. Neat editing, and good mix of direct and drone stuff. Nice boat too (Rival 36 or 38? perhaps?) and what type of anchor was that just escaping offscreen at one point? I spend as much time sailing this area as I can, but that's not enough, though I do manage a few thousand miles a year here.

    • @waterpeople-expedition
      @waterpeople-expedition  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Geoff! Yeah she's a Rival 38 with a Rocna anchor which has been working great :) Totally agree that it's an incredible area to sail, so much to explore and just so beautiful!

      @waterpeople-expedition  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much! We’re filming in a log colour profile, editing in Final Cut X, exporting as ProRes 4444, and using DaVinci Resolve for colour corrections and grading. (Using ‘scene cut detection’ in Resolve to separate back into individual shots prior to working).

    Amazing quality of the video! Great filming, photography, sound and edition. I am subscribed to many sailing channels and never have seen a video like this. It really looks like a short film! Congratulations for the job and wish you the best (and many subscribers) in this adventure.
    Since several years ago, I watch daily in You Tube videos related to sailing and sailing boats, and till today, your channel has not been recommended to me by the bloody You Tube algorithm. I can't understand it. I suppose that advertising or positioning in You Tube must no cheap, but if affordable for you, perhaps you should make some investment in this sense. I'm sure you would earn many subscriptors in a short period of time, which would affect positively to the You Tube algorithm. July and August probably are best months to do it, as many "only for summer sailors" are on holiday and have more time to watch this kind of content in You Tube.
    Regards from Ibiza where I sail almost all the year in shorts ,,😄👍

      We find TH-cam ads spoil the experience so we turn off the monetisation option and we buy music licenses to be sure that ads don’t come on. Instead we prefer to use Patreon. The monthly contributions we get pays some of the expenses such as hard drive space and music rights. We need all the help we can get to continue the videos because we don’t have savings and already we do other jobs along the way to just about pay our bills. Patreon works great because it keeps the videos free to everyone and with no ads, while giving the option to help us out for those that want to. So with that being said, we’ll always need to mention Patreon.
