Anna Miller most police departments do require that their officers do tests after completion/graduation of the academy whether it be 1,2,3, or even 4 times a year some police departments don’t require it. Although I am a police officer in D.C. I cannot speak on behalf of New Zealand.
@NZrattlesnake That's probably because your really fit. They're designed to see if you meet the standard physical requirements that are strained on you in the line of duty, not to see if your an olympic athlete.
XxVenomxX He's also never done it before and has clearly had no training. It was a good effort for his circumstance. Also, is easy enough f or you to comment isn't it considering you never tried it.
They are where I am. Run 1.5 miles in under 11 minutes 58 seconds, 35 pushups in 1 minute, and 46 sit ups in 1 minute. That's just to qualify for the academy. Recruits should expect to run at leat 3 miles on the first day.
They have changed all the testing now however. Its different for every department as some of the smaller ones don't even require it in my state. The larger ones however do. The tests I had to take were a 1.5 mile run, 400 meter dash, push-ups for 60 sec, sit ups for 60 sec, drag a 150lb dummy for 25 meters, and a few others had pull-ups as well. Most have a 25 push-up and sit up min though. Im sure it varies from state to state however, that is just for WI.
@alexlucamacri Probably bc age has nothing to do with fence climbing ability... "Wow I'm 12 and I can crawl under that truck easily. That must mean I'll be a super human when I'm older!" You're 14, you probably weigh a lot less than he does, and have time to run around and climb things. You have a huge advantage over any middle aged adult. When I was your age I could do 350 pushups non-stop. I can't do that now because I weigh more and have other things I need to do.
It's not meant to be difficult, it's just designed to prepare recruits for potential obstacles they may face on the job, that way they can work on certain parts they may have struggled with.
I really commend you for your video. You were great. I was training to be a cop of Ottawa. I had bad bad accident that doesn't allow me for that. I really liked your trying a lot. I can't do half of that. You did great.
Guy ran too hard by the looks, from the tyre to the beam.. no excuse for the lack of thought process on the wall and the fence though, just ran himself straight at the fence without thinking :p
at least he wasn't scarred to try. And those walls are so tricky, especially when you lost your breath and do it first or second time in your whole life. Good job Britton!
@PumpkinAttacker alot of people are actually less active when they get to 20 years old. hes one of them. no offense to anyone who doesnt excersise regularly
"I don't have to run faster than the bear, I just have to run faster than you." or "Rule 1: Cardio" this guy is toast during the zombie apocalypse. I was expecting a faceplant @ 1:38
just imagine this guy on american ninja ''the warped wall''. this guy's the camera man ,isn't the camera he uses heavy. you would think he would have the arm strength.
He was doing great up until that wall.. its a shame cause he is about 5-11 or so and I've seen women.. Shorter than 5-4 able to clear the 6 foot wall with No problem. Height helps but its More upper body strength.. Dude needs to do push ups or hit the weight room.
lol the ones i saw that were american or at least california had sand in the parts where you had to run cris cross through cones walls ect also the person they had to drag didnt have a backpack on thats kinda cheating since most people youd drag wont have a backpack on
The test is not impossible, but not even easy, you have to be fit to accomplish it. Also, keep in mind that a cop is not a cop when he passes through this test: it is a necessary but not sufficient condition. The most of you guys probably lack most of the other requisites for being a cop.
I play football. Easy as hell. My football practice for conditioning is way harder than this. And we have to do it for 2 in a half hours. Easy pass ill be a cop in no time
The course is easy, it’s the time limit you have to do it in that presents the challenge. Time limit depends on your age, a 40 year old has to do it in 2:50, 20 year old has to do it in 2:10.
Yeah I'm fat myself but I passed the police physical, it wasn't too bad, did the wall first shot cause I practiced, hardest part was running I hate running haha
They should have to do this once a year
Cops should have a fitness test every other year to keep them in shape.
they do
+ALEX42 no they don't
Surprised always more like every month
Surprised always They really do i dont know about every other year but they do

Hard part is the running part, get that down and your fine.
Oh yeah. That's the part I hate the most
Nope. Wall is the hardest
Imagine running from a cop and you jump a fence and you look behind you to see this 2:35
Dude! That will be hilarious!!! 😂😂😂😂
my fav part was the chain-link fence face-plant
I'm going to practice everyday so when the training comes up when I'm older I can pass it easily. :)
same
+Tempest hows that going for ya?
Ben Lee Good
me too
just remember to stay away from...donuts!
@NZrattlesnake That's probably because your really fit. They're designed to see if you meet the standard physical requirements that are strained on you in the line of duty, not to see if your an olympic athlete.
Haha most forces in the UK pretty much just require you to not be in a coma. 5.4 on bleep test and pushing/pulling ~35kg.
Wall wasn't that hard looking
But he has lost much energy in the previous test. He just ran out of power.
XxVenomxX He's also never done it before and has clearly had no training. It was a good effort for his circumstance. Also, is easy enough f or you to comment isn't it considering you never tried it.
duckymagic57 Same goes to you.
XxVenomxX its more of a mental thing
Black Ninja bruh I did football too. You don’t climb walls. And it’s harder than it looks... get over yourself.
Mate, that brightened up my lunch break. Good on you for giving it a go.
I see a lot of "out of shape" police officers, maybe they should make the entrance exam a bit harder.
duckymagic57 That's funny

Up Close and Personal where’s this?

in america they have to do all of that same stuff ... problem is 20 years later when they don't exercise anymore
if somebody is going to be in the police do abit of boxing or swimming or cycleing there the best to help you with this
how fast do you have to complete this?
I would guess under 3 mins.
the doughnut used at 00:35 looks a little to big the ones they are going to be eating aren't going to be that big
Okay Broun that was truely funny that wall thing.............couldn't stop laughing!! Thanks for that!!
@Giolics1 The tire was for the weight.
hard to watch, very hard to watch...
good on you though, for finishing
That wall was tearing his balls up.
I've been her and seen that wall no way I jump
What time is needed to pass?
@alexlucamacri Probably bc age has nothing to do with fence climbing ability... "Wow I'm 12 and I can crawl under that truck easily. That must mean I'll be a super human when I'm older!" @NZrattlesnake Sorry,I meant sit-ups!
Thanks for that!
Some tyre training would be an awesome addition to this. I can't wait to be here...
......That's it?
My thoughts exactly. Try that after a burst of OC.
It's not meant to be difficult, it's just designed to prepare recruits for potential obstacles they may face on the job, that way they can work on certain parts they may have struggled with.
Should be able to do(16-25 yrs old Male):
-30 to 45 good push-ups/press-ups
-2.4km run in 12mins 30secs
-75 chin-ups
-Firemans carry 85kg body 100ms
@DwnNvr Ok? you are right that in if he were in better shape he should be able to get over the wall easier.
Well if you live on a farm, you pretty much do this shit everyday...and more
I don't know why but the wall climb part of the test made me piss myself in laughter
I really commend you for your video. You were great. I was training to be a cop of Ottawa. I had bad bad accident that doesn't allow me for that. I really liked your trying a lot. I can't do half of that. You did great.

@PumpkinAttacker alot of people are actually less active when they get to 20 years old. hes one of them. no offense to anyone who doesnt excersise regularly
any athlete would dominate this
A lot of people failed the wall when I was applying for the police dept
the wall is easy
I couldn't stop laughing at this guy trying and trying to jump over the wall. lololollll.
he probably just wasn't in that great of shape.
"I don't have to run faster than the bear, I just have to run faster than you." or "Rule 1: Cardio" this guy is toast during the zombie apocalypse. I was expecting a faceplant @ 1:38
@CameraManSW 16 is a perfectly fit,young and healthy age.I meant Sit-ups.
Where's the part where you swing your baton at the mannequins with their hands up
That's the academy
What would be the time for an 18 year old female?
he would have made it if he didnt screw up on the first wall
just imagine this guy on american ninja ''the warped wall''. this guy's the camera man ,isn't the camera he uses heavy. you would think he would have the arm strength.
I know he was already exhausted but if he sprinted up to the wall and jumped he prob would have made it right over
lmao IS THIS TRY outs for track? what the heck does picking up a tire have to do with police work?.......LMAO!!!
You know he pretty much gave up when he ran into the fence like that 3:18 😂😂😂. Good effort though...
I'd like to try one of these. Seems fun
can you do this under 1:30?
Good job well done
its hard to go up the fence when you're tired and obviously he is tired
He was doing great up until that wall.. its a shame cause he is about 5-11 or so and I've seen women.. Shorter than 5-4 able to clear the 6 foot wall with No problem. Height helps but its More upper body strength.. Dude needs to do push ups or hit the weight room.
Pull ups would help too. Looked like he was trying to do a pull up on that wall at one stage but he didn't have the strength.
You'd think a large fella like him would have enough arm strength to pull himself up the wall regardless of the previous tests on leg strength.
it looked like i could do this but watching this guy get tired made me wonder if i could.
This guy.... watching him do the wall and fence.... wow..
lol the ones i saw that were american or at least california had sand in the parts where you had to run cris cross through cones walls ect also the person they had to drag didnt have a backpack on thats kinda cheating since most people youd drag wont have a backpack on
Window at end wldve gave me a heart attack lol
Except for the wall, he did alright. Then again... I did watch the video at 2x speed.
HAHA! Da fuck ma? It's just a small fucking wall
350 pushups non-stop?
350 wow i could only do like 30 then but at age 17 i went to 243 non-stop
i think he decided to get in better shape after the wall
hqhqhqhhahahaha omg that wall shit was so funny. this is why you start working out young and never stop
Hey push through the challenge and regain your breathing. Don't think negative
damn poor dude he looks so tired. i felt bad for him on that wall
The test is not impossible, but not even easy, you have to be fit to accomplish it.
Also, keep in mind that a cop is not a cop when he passes through this test: it is a necessary but not sufficient condition. The most of you guys probably lack most of the other requisites for being a cop.
@DominionPost he would have made it if he didnt get stuck at the fence jump for over a minute.
This reporter is not taking this serious. Look at how slow he is moving. I know people who killed this test in less than two minutes.
That is literally impossible to accomplish in less than two minutes.
lol its a tough training
not at all I could do all that 3x in a row...
this course is a joke and this guy is way out of shape.
that's was Awesome. you did a really good job.
I play football. Easy as hell. My football practice for conditioning is way harder than this. And we have to do it for 2 in a half hours. Easy pass ill be a cop in no time
Are you a cop yet?
i could easily pass this test
Imagine doing that in police uniform I think they should use a more flexible material for police uniforms
Demetrius pearson they are more flexible then you think, but I agree - being a policeman is quite an athletic job may as well dress like an athlete
Keep in mind you have under 3 min to do this...
Must be easy for you people watching from your parents couches.
I'll do it
Most don’t. My department doesn’t
TERRIBLE EFFORT!
What the hell, I pull myself up on walls like that at school all the time with ease, he needs to work on his upper body strength bad. (no offense)
20 years down the line you wont be able to climb stairs
good 👮👍
Is this really all they have to do...
6foot wall always wins xD
good job!! alot of people would probably puke before they finished and give up
wtf this looks easy af
CR7NEYMAR easier said than done. I just completed the SOPAT and even fit people couldn't pass it
The course is easy, it’s the time limit you have to do it in that presents the challenge. Time limit depends on your age, a 40 year old has to do it in 2:50, 20 year old has to do it in 2:10.
How can you be so unfit?
+TheFr3styler sad
Because he's a news reporter and he has his own choices...
Yeah I'm fat myself but I passed the police physical, it wasn't too bad, did the wall first shot cause I practiced, hardest part was running I hate running haha
Walls brutal
that looks so easy though
Good god, he's unfit. i'm almost 19, so i should be able to do it in 2:06? wow, that's probably dead easy.
Nice
Looks easy to be honest.
Hahaha climbing skillzz
how long do womans have and mans
that shit looks easy af
Looks fun as
Easy enough
Good job, now get sprayed and run it again. :|
Man this crap easy
Shame his poor girlfriend..
i coulda did that in my sleep.
