This is such an eye opener. I am watching it in 2017 even then i feel this is such vital information for each and every human living on this planet. I read in a book that Cities have passed their age of industrialisation and entered the age of Recovery... But its people like these who bring light to the idea that RECYCLING IS THE ULTIMATE GOAL if we really wanna save our planet.

I really enjoyed this short documentary. I live in the US and thanks to social media, have made many friends from around the world. I have quite a few new friends from India and would love to be able to travel there someday. I'm fascinated and intrigued by the Asian culture and customs and would love to learn more about it. Not just from books and tv/movies, but by experiencing it first hand.
It started as a coincidence, but now I prefer to have Asian doctors. They just seem to have a broader perspective and approach to conventional (western) medicine, so whenever I need to see a doctor or (especially) a specialist, I will always at least seek a consultation with an Asian doctor. I think the mix of western medicine and eastern culture and open mindedness make for a far more balanced and complete approach and positive outcome. I know I've drifting considerably from the recycling topic, but the broad, open minded, multi-faceted outlook I was talking about with doctors was also apparent in the people who participated in this documentary. While many people still view India as a developing or "3rd world nation", (and maybe they technically are), but that doesn't mean that we can't learn a thing or two from them. In fact, when it comes to not only seeing, but getting the total value in things, there's a lot that we can learn from them.

    Great documentary! Thanks!
Different countries could perhaps pool their knowledge and practices when it comes to recycling. I don't mean simply shipping materials around, I mean helping each other with knowhow and methods.

Very good documentary. I just looked up the exchange rate for rupees to dollars; 1 rupee equals 1.4 cents. That man at the start says he makes 50 to 60 rupees a day. Or close to 55 to 65 cents per day. Wow! Here in the USA, If you make $1000.00 per month, you'll be at the top level of the poverty range.

throw away items, like ships... great sense of humor that gentleman! I think the -western - world has no right to ask what India or China or other countries are doing for recycling. As long as THEY sent their garbage to China, electronic Rubbish to Nigeria, toxic wastes to god knows where or ships to the Bangladesh breakers. They should first clean up their own act. and only then they have the right to demand form others.

In west if we wanted to get rid of household it become big issue as no one is prepare to take even it is free because transportation cost lots of money and no one is supposed to throw things out in the garbage so one has to hire the transporter.

This sounds good - but ideally, India would recycle 100% of it's own waste before importing from other countries. That's the goal I think. No imports until India has waste management under control.

This just goes to show that in the end, recycling is labour intensive. Western countries could create tens of thousands of jobs for their people just like they do in India and China.
