Therefore, the land is not eligible for the Zero IHT tax rate. There will be, therefore, a 40% IHT tax levied against this transfer of ownership of this land.* The benefit of this as it also encourages farmland expansion and growth, to help increase survivability of farmers livelihoods and reduces land grabs for tax avoidance purposes and encourages proper, managed, farming of land and ensuring a greener future and helping to reduce carbon created by cities, by having a thriving green countryside. There is no need for the confusing rules such as the 20% tax and £1 million thresholds set out by Labour. Many farmers are among the wealthiest in the population - as evidenced by their spanking 4 wheel drive cars etc.. Most farmers DO work hard, I will concede - but a lot of them just swan around in tweeds and polo necks, with large, swanky properties, taking working days off to don their red coats for the Hunt! Grrr! I don't have a problem with this if it is done fairly, and for a good reason - which it is.
This inheritance is nothing more than a land grab. Farmers already pay tax, the myriad of other taxes that exist. Do you think farmers are just sitting on millions of pounds of liquid income? This tax will do nothing but force family farmers to sell their land, equipment and livestock in order pay the tax. Who's going to buy up that land? Not other family farmers, but multi-national corporations and the government. "Level the playing field". Shows how you truly see the situation. This isn't a game, this is families' livelihoods. The families who produce food for our nation, at little to no profit to themselves, and they are being punished because some clueless communists who have never left the city think they are rich and want to take it to piss it into the monetary blackhole know as the "welfare state", which is so broken that it helps nobody, except lining corrupt ministers pockets. Stalin would be proud of Starmer.
@stephencrompton4352 What makes farmers so special? Every other business has to pay this tax, why not farmers? They're still getting a special deal. There are plenty of ways to mitigate this anyway. You don't need to stoop to insults. Explain why farmers should be getting a special deal. I've heard very little thus far. Everyone hates new taxes, this is a loophole which is being adjusted, not removed.
Right let's try and explain what this actually means ..... The farmers 'assets' lies in their land , not money in the bank right ? You got that bit ? So , if an ' everybody else ' person has £3m in the bank , as it stands then 40% goes in tax upon death yeah ? But now , the farmer who has say £3m worth of LAND but NOT £3m in the bank , will get a tax bill for 20% of that lands worth . Get it ? . So how can he pay the bill ? 🤔 He doesn't have £600k in the bank ! So what does he have to do ? 🤔 He has to sell some of his land yeah ? You keeping up ? So he sells the land , pays the bill , but what happens then ? He produces 20% less food right ? Multiply that by all the other farms that fall into this land grab too don't forget , then what do you have ? A national food shortage. You get that ? And as time goes by , this shortage can only increase yeah ? . And what happens to the land they have to sell ? Well it certainly not be bought buy farmers that's for sure . So what else ? Well there's certainly a shortage of social housing at the moment . And what with the 100s of K's of illegals continually arriving on our shores being welcomed with open arms by our government and 'King ' , they'll need to be housed somewhere will they not ? So if you're happy to see a continuing shortage of home grown food and farmland being given freely to house 'asylum seekers ' . Then yeah , I suppose you're right . Tax the farmers to the hilt ! .
@londonsparrow9531 Farmers produce the nation's food (duh). It's classic communism to take land off farmers because the land belonging to them is arbitrarily deemed "unfair." In my opinion, inheritance tax should not exist at all. For many people and businesses, inheritance tax can be relatively easily paid with liquid income. This is not so with farmers. A farmers estate is made up of practically no liquid capital, and the assets themselves make little to no profit. The inheritance tax will force farmers to sell of the land which has been in their families for generations. If you want to see all of our farms owned by some faceless, soulless multi-national corporation, then go on, force the farmers to sell their land and assets piece by piece until nothing is left. Farmers being exempt from tax is not a loophole. It is a reasonable and pragmatic policy to preserve the nations farming. Yet our greedy government can't see past that. They see only land and bags of money. "Clueless communists who have never left the city" is not an insult but an observation (and it's not necessarily targeted at you personally).
@@stephencrompton4352 you are spot on Stephen but don't waste too much time on the brain dead . What gets me is , instead of people fighting to get inheritance tax abolished for EVERYONE , they'd sooner gobshite off to get everyone paying it ! Figure that one out !
Because they are stupid. The vast majority of them will not pay this tax. If their business is so poor then maybe they should find some other form of employment.
When the farmers go out of business you CityPeople will have to rely on imported food. The producers of that food can ask any price that they want. If you can't afford it, you starve and they sell it to those who can afford it.

ProMotion I mean.
Because they now have to pay their fair share like everyone else 🤣🤣
After you have taxed farming out of existence, from which foreign country will you buy your food?
@manlybaker3098 that is scaremongering farmers are not going to be taxed out of existence the tax bill they will receive they will get ten years to pay it and it is fair to pay you fair share 🙄
God aren’t they hard working. 😁
Because they voted Brexit and now they have to pay the price 😘🤣🤣🤣
17.4 million people voted for Brexit and Leave the corrupt EU and stop the WEF destroying our Country! Except the Cons and Liebour corrupt Govs work for the WEF, not the British people! It stinks like a cesspit, yet you still think they are doing a great job.
And you will be forced to rely on food imported from foreign countries and hope that, since they have you over a barrel, they won't start price gouging.
PAY TAX LIKE THE REST OF US YOU BLOATED TORIES
Where will you get your food after the farmers have been bankrupted?
Ignore these brexit farmers. Yhey just want to avoid paying their share of the tax budenwhich isef to deliver better services.
A remoaner's just crawled from under a stone 😂😂😂
Many farmers are among the wealthiest in the population - as evidenced by their spanking 4 wheel drive cars etc.. Most farmers DO work hard, I will concede - but a lot of them just swan around in tweeds and polo necks, with large, swanky properties, taking working days off to don their red coats for the Hunt! Grrr! I don't have a problem with this if it is done fairly, and for a good reason - which it is.
Because they are so greedy as if they are worth less than a million it won’t affect them.
Look at all the millionaires.
Greedy farmers.
That money is not in cash. It is in the land and the equipment required to grow crops and animals.
Why shouldn't farmers pay the taxes that everybody else pays?
Why not start to close this tax loophole.
Level the playing field.
He has to sell some of his land yeah ?
It's classic communism to take land off farmers because the land belonging to them is arbitrarily deemed "unfair."
In my opinion, inheritance tax should not exist at all.
And you call THEM stupid !??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When the farmers go out of business you CityPeople will have to rely on imported food. The producers of that food can ask any price that they want. If you can't afford it, you starve and they sell it to those who can afford it.
My tiny violin is playing boo hoo. Thank you labour for closing another tory tax loop hole, very well done. Farmers pay up you have had it too good for too long.
Never seen so many Barbour/ wax Jackets and Hunter wellies in one place !
Where is Nasty Pinocchio Fraudrage
