Timo Werner is the definition of a modern-day forward. God, the venom he puts on his strikes. Incredible. He’s one of those players who plays best when turning off his brain and just going on instinct. I think he’s going to have that opportunity with us and I’m excited to see him back to his best.

the problem with Werner is that they always wanted to play him as a number 9, when he's just an associative striker, he'd excel at second striker role if teams ever go back to play 4-4-2. But since Klose retired they didnt know how to put Werner in there, they also ended up hurting Gnabry's game by putting him as a lone striker In sometimes. And in Chelsea he never had a striker or good wingers to associate with.
Now he will hve Maddison as his support and Son/Johnson feeding him ⚽️

💯at Leipzig he always played alongside a real #9 and Timo excelled playing as a wide forward / second striker. At Chelsea they expected him to be the target man which just doesn’t work. He’ll fit in just fine at Spurs
I’m under no delusions. This guy hasn’t shown up much in the last few years. He’s unlikely to be a miracle worker for Spurs. HOWEVER, you can’t deny that the possible upside for him at Spurs is quite good. In these highlights, you can see that he is a player capable of scoring very good goals. He will surely at least push Richarlison for starts. He kept playing at Chelsea even when out of form. Usually, that means that a player is working hard and putting in performances in training. So maybe all he needs is the confidence back.
Very reality based take. He's gonna either make richy a better finishing by pressuring his playing time or be what richy needs to be to motivate him. Either way it's a win
doubt he'll get back to his form pre chelsea but he will 100% do better than he is now
Can't say for certain how he will perform, but for a cheap loan option there isn't really anything to lose, so it is a perfect deal.

I have no doubt about his talent, but it seems that he never reached his full potential. It is possible, though, that in many occasions he was not properly used by coaches. I tend to agree with some commentators that he could perform well in a formation with two forwards (especially with a strong classic number 9 as partner).

He can’t function in a one striker formation. He needs a two striker formation like a 442 or two wide forwards in a 433.
