    Great video thanks for posting! Sure would have liked it more with engine sounds during takeoff though

    Great airplane. I sold it for what I paid for it five years later. Understand that it is back in Canada now.

    First off, I immediately recognized Oak Harbor KOKH by the gas pump…I usually park my plane in the grass in the background.
    Second, is this the 800 that’s currently for sale, or a twin? Have seen the one listed for sale, have been interested in it but curious in the performance numbers (UL, cruise speeds, range, etc) compared to the usual Cessna suspects. I’m familiar with the GO’s but not as much on the 720’s

      This is H-2. The one for sale is H-4. Identical basically. Biggest issue is fuel burn. 25gph at cruise. Otherwise they’re ok. Fun birds.

      Lots of other videos on my channel with engine noise.

    Does the 800 have the Lycoming 720 8 cylinder engine and does it have any overheating issues with the rear cylinders?

      @helioslow9244  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. 400hp. About 25 gph though. Not any issues with overheating that I know of.

      @@helioslow9244 Wrights Flying Service in Fairbanks AK had two Helio's when I was working in Ak back in the 90's, fantastic Bush machines. I asked a pilot friend of mine, who flew Helio's for Wrights about the aircraft one time and he humorously told me, all I can tell ya is, when those things on the wings come out, you're coming down. lol He was a native guy who grew up in Bush Alaska, and one heck of a Bush pilot.

      @@helioslow9244 I only asked about the overheating because that seems to be the only argument against that engine in certain applications. I once ferried a 400 brave Ag plane with that engine from Lubbock TX to Lakeland FL and I didn’t notice any problems with the CHT

    • @helioslow9244

      No overheating as long as you keep pouring that fuel to it. My 295 burns around half the fuel. Also, no cowl flaps on the 800.

      @@helioslow9244 Yeah the operator I worked for in Alaska had a fleet of Piper Navajo Chieftains and one 1040, which is a Navajo with PT6 engines. The 1040 was a hot rod for sure, but it burned twice the fuel as a Chieftain, yet it didn't haul twice the payload. Unless the Helio 800 has a corresponding gross weight and performance increase to go along with that fuel burn, it's kinda a moot point.
