Torus, Tube, Bend & Fuse - Houdini by SideFX

  • In Houdini, a Torus is a primitive type. But I wanted to make a torus from a tube, and to do so I learned how to use the Bend and Fuse nodes. Better still, by using parameter expressions I was able to make my new Torus network flexible so that you could change the parameters on the Tube, and the result would still be a Torus.

    how do you texture a model with a bend animation so that the textures don't warp when the model bends?

    This is the worse tool in Houdini, I dread having to use it. it is such a pain in the ass. You should't need to fiddle so much just to bend an object.

      Yeah. I love Houdini but this is a perfect example of usability not matching capability. I can just see the meeting where some designer was saying "look, this just isn't as easy as it could be" and some developer responding "it's really pretty simple. All you have to do is calculate the...N and then the M and convert the PDQ to GDF and..." It's why people's brains turn inside-out trying to use some of this stuff.
