so let me get this straight.. austrailia has weird little guys that hop around, creepy little guys, silly little guys, guys that will shank you, and deadly little guys? oh and annoying little guys?
I read this comment right as I started watching the video and was going to reply that TierZoo does that but I changed my mind as soon as he said that kangaroos belong in B tier because they taste delicious. TierZoo definitely isn't making videos like this. 😂
Huntsman spiders should have been S tier. Their speed alone makes them so freaking impressive. Plus they eat the more harmful bugs like flies, which land on your food with their poop-covered feet and puke on it, and some of them bite, and spread disease. Sure, a huntsman can make you jump, and they belong to a family that’s managed to find a way to strike fear into the hearts of humans despite the fact that huntsman’s can’t hurt you. Which really just makes them more impressive when you think about it. And they’re just so iconically Australian!
I'm so glad you included numbats. They're one of my favourite animals. My top tier would be numbat, cassowary, wedge tail eagle, blue banded bee, peacock spider, perentie, wobbegong, and ghost bat.
its 4:00 am here in Germany, and I think TH-cam recommendations have finally did its job correctly, thanks for the great vid, you've definitely earned a subscriber.
16:06 this footage was of a lyrebird that lived in a zoo (hence the camera shutter sounds), there was some construction happening in an exhibit nearby hence the construction noises
My child hood best friend used to live across the road from an oval and we would just get attacked by Plovers every time we tried to go to the oval. Magpies are at least cute, and can be friendly, Plovers have no redeemable qualities.
holy shit that accent switch-up on 'koala bear' was really impressive and such a shift it *actually* physically jarred me briefly well done, speaking as a native US dialect dork also your vids are rad
As an American I will add to the possums by saying the Virginia Opposum is a beloved little freak. They look scuffed as hell but they eat all our bugs and are very sweet little things that are actually much less aggressive than they make us think (they will sit there and scream and hiss and keehl over and play dead before they bite) (I did get bit once though it was just a little joey though he was really freaked out. Still hurt though wouldn't recommend just grabbing one but you can if you need to move one out of the road or something.)
Also American & I love opossums as well. They are so misunderstood. True story- If you ever scoop your cat box late at night and just set the bag on your back deck to take to the bins in the morning, don't be surprised to see these little guys helping themselves to it when you wake to make your coffee. Nature's lil garbage men. 🤢😂
Goanna needs to be higher, I'd have them in S tier. I share common ground with them often, so cool when they just walk up and lick your feet, look you in the eyes and then turn and wander off😊 But the fact i had one save me from a very angry black snake (not my fault it was angry), Goanna grabbed it 20' in front of me and I got to watch the most intense 20 min battle ever. Goannas are super cool
I'm not australian, and I don't know much about goannas (only got to know about them today) but they look like monitor lizards, probably are monitor lizards, and for that, I love them.
The clips you showed for the legless lizard are actually of the European variety. However, we do have the burton's legless lizard which is the worlds only legless gecko and just all round a silly looking creature! Gonna be honest, you missed a lot of iconic australian reptiles on this list. I mean, Eastern browns? Carpet pythons? Green tree pythons? Red bellies? Woma pythons? Bearded Dragons?
I was lucky enough to see an echidna in the wild once, and it was such a special encounter. Fully agree with your list, especially putting dolphins in F tier. They know what they've done.
I learned about so many animals that I’ve never heard of. I am sad there were no Bearded Dragons mentioned as they are native to Australia. Quokkas are my favorite of them all although the Platypus does deserve to be in S tier.
There were a bunch of animals on this list that I hadn’t heard of, well done! I just wanna ask if budgies are different than lorikeets (I personally don’t know much about birds, I’m just curious 😅) But yeah, you’ve earned a subscriber! I’ll be definitely watching a bunch more of your vids!
In 2011 scientists figured out how to isolate a singular molecule of water, compared to that i don't imagine it would be that difficult to separate out ~440 micrograms of inland taipan venom. I mean you need very sensitive lab equipment, and I'm sure there are plenty of challenges
Im not sure if theres something about me as a person or what it is. But I've never had a magpie swoop me. Theres a gumtree behind my house that has magpies that live there all through the year. They lay their eggs there each year and theyve never swooped my kids or i. Maybe because i feed them occasionally? Im not sure. But theyve swooped nearly everyone else thats come into my yard. Was pretty funny seeing my aunt waddle around squealing because they swooped her. Probably because she is so loud. I dunno. It was hilarious.
I had no idea that galahs is pronounced 'guh-lahs'- I've been calling them 'gala' like 'gah-luhs' for years! But yes big agree, they are best bird. I love all the little freaks in the cacatua genus so much- my gold star pet was a little white-faced cockatiel named Selzter. Miss him lots❤
I mean they have a tonnnn of them and I've heard they don't taste bad, so I think it's actually a pretty logical conclusion, it's just that most people have never thought about it. It's like how eating crocodile/alligator is relatively common in the southern united states because they're so prevalent, but it's not at all common outside of the region.
Honestly I couldn't do this, Todd, I'd just put the entire community on S Tier (I love all forms of wildlife equally XD), so good on you for actually committing to it xDDD
once a funnel-web spider crawled up my leg while i was in school so i screamed and all my classmates thought i was being dramatic (i mushed it to bits the moment i felt it touch my leg)
I think the Irukandji Jellyfish should be separated, and then it should take the spot of Box Jellyfish for the worst animal. Even though technically it is a sub-species of Box Jellyfish, it is very different, and way suckier. While the Box Jellyfish definitely sucks, the Irukandji Jellyfish sucks AND is sneaky about it. A Box Jellyfish is big, gets in your face, and when it stings you it leaves big marks. Then you die within hours, knowing you got jelly-fished. The Irukandji is the world's smallest Jellyfish. Its sting leaves NO mark on your body, and it kills you slowly over a few days. Until 1964 we didn't even know it existed. We just thought people were having heaps of organ failure up in FNQ. Turns out those people had been death-marked two days earlier by this sneaky bastard while snorkelling.
Hi. Italian resident here. Magpies surely become jerks during the mating season and we have crows, which behave similarly but we have a lot of seagulls (don't know if there are large populations in Australia), which are on another level of jerk. Also much love for the Thylacine, it deserves all the respect.
Just saw your comment and wanted to say as an Aussie I can say that magpies in mating season are dangerous if you’re not careful. I have two main memories of how scary it can get, from running as fast as me and my siblings could go and having to use out schoolbags as a helmet to shelter us from the swooping. And also getting asked by a kid in my class why people had zip ties and goggles eyes on bike helmets ( I thought he was trying to make a joke and didn’t explain it) but yeah it’s very dangerous in spring, there’s people who warn people who ride bikes ( even motorcycle) about how you have to look out for magpies and most people tend to just try and stay away from magpies until it’s over!
My favorite animal on the list is the koala, and I take it as a personal attack against me that it’s not higher on the list. Who doesn’t want to be a cuddly little monster that makes weird noises, with 2 thumbs on each hand, a retractable penis, and the ability to just get high and hang out all day?
Many europeans are familiar with the "slow worm", another legless lizard. Unlike snakes, they can close their eyes and dump off their tail once in their life. Some of then feature visible remnants of their legs.
Very disappointed that stingrays were not included on this list, especially considering Australia is one of the only countries that predominantly habilitates these little creatures (apart from South Africa and New Zealand). Also the fact they’re famously responsible for the death of our very own crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin. Otherwise I agree with many of the rankings made in this video :3 I looove blue ring octopus, and I am very pleased to see their well deserved rating!!
- Makes tierlist of australian animals - Shows two species of legless lizards (Common slowworm [Anguis fragilis] and Sheltopusik [Pseudopus apodus]), neither of which is even remotely australian (both are native to Europe). Y'all ain't the only ones making legless lizards over there in upside-down land!
I think the only animal I can think of you didn't include are bearded dragons. Them and green tree frogs are like the Australian animals you're most likely to see outside of Australia due to being good pet.
“You and me, we’re placentals.” That cracked me up. It was a great, super quick way to get to the point. But for some folks with an American education, I think you might be feeding into their superiority complex. Some folks are very likely to hear that and assume humans are the only placental mammals.
so let me get this straight..
austrailia has weird little guys that hop around, creepy little guys, silly little guys, guys that will shank you, and deadly little guys? oh and annoying little guys?
And the Emu, the only animal to win a war against humans. Never forget the Emu, they sure as hell won’t forget you.
I would not object to Todd making hundreds of videos just ranking animals in different countries
I read this comment right as I started watching the video and was going to reply that TierZoo does that but I changed my mind as soon as he said that kangaroos belong in B tier because they taste delicious. TierZoo definitely isn't making videos like this. 😂
I'd rather see animals of unique environments like Antarctica and Madagascar
Huntsman spiders should have been S tier. Their speed alone makes them so freaking impressive. There’s more venomous spiders than the huntsman, like the funnel web, which HAVE killed before.
No. Immediately f tier because I think I would die if I saw one irl

15:50 crazy how perfectly this bird mimics those sounds!

The blue banded bee is absolutely beautiful
Can't believe you called me a placental. You better take that back!
Also, for the next video you should clone your own thylacine.
its 4:00 am here in Germany, and I think TH-cam recommendations have finally did its job correctly, thanks for the great vid, you've definitely earned a subscriber.
The fact you put Thylacine in s tier and you believe they still exist makes you awesome and instant sub from me

Honestly, learning that Huntsman spiders don’t do webs and that they just run around chasing things down makes them scarier imo
