Perhaps get away from your "koncept gaming" and find out what is really happening to our planet. Aotearoa New Zealand is in real danger of being destroyed further by colonialism (look up the meaning, in case you are unsure), and those Maoris that are complicit in doing so should be ashamed of themselves. NZ First Party MP and Minister for Resources, Shane Jones, intends to impose a free-for-all mining policy onto conservation lands, which have been set aside for future generations and biodiversity. They must protect the important national values held in our mountains and forests and recognise that they need greater protection, not mining on and under them! And then there's GMO/GE crops. Craig you have totally missed the point about the days leading up to the commemorative day that is the 6th of February. Allowing robust debate on the subject was done in 1840, and so it was done yesterday in 2024.
      But today on the 6th of February, in Waitangi, the spirit of unity for all NZers stands.
      Concerning manakitanga toward our visitors, in the context of the kaupapa set out yesterday, Waitangi was the correct place and forum to have it. Respect was displayed by Ngapuhi for allowing all those who did speak, speak, unfettered, unfiltered, passionately.
      Kia Ora Craig, you have a lovely day.

    People who will not allow opposing viewpoints to be heard and would prefer to shout and scream instead should not whinge when they say they aren’t being listened to. I would rather listen to some rubbish ideas that I don’t agree with than the idea of living in a country where you are unable to speak freely. There are those who actively stir the point with no intention of finding unity or common grounds in order to unite people and then there are those who try to fight through the noise to find solutions tfor the greater good of everyone involved. I find politicians, bureaucrats and activists to be the least helpful in this area and it is actually the average everyday people from all walks of life that are more willing to try and make a better world for themselves and their children. I applaud Jones and Peters for turning up and trying to bring a more common sense approach in to govvernment.

[NZ First Party MP and Minister for Resources, Shane Jones] is the Man who intends to impose a free-for-all mining policy onto conservation lands, which have been set aside for future generations and biodiversity. They must protect the important national values held in our mountains and forests and recognise that they need greater protection, not mining on and under them! And then there's GMO/GE crops. What a great idea Lucifer Luxon! 🤦‍♀🤬

    I respect Shanes skills and knowledge his loyalty and pragmatism is massively underappreciated. I wasnt impressed with the pettyness and shouting over speakers at Waitangi and hope this is settled for the time we have ahead. Im a former NZ first Labour supporter now supporting Te Pati Maori and was really impressed by the grace witt and common sense inteligence of Shane they are lucky to have him as we know Winston on attack is a fiery advocate for pan Maori tribalism. People have forgotten what Winston did in the past to help advance Maori land settlements for Tainui and Tauranga who are in fact runanga driven now with many inequities in iwi and hapu politics. Thank goodness for Hone also he acknowledged this to as Shanes knowledge of the Treaty is so valueable definetly more aligned with a dated model that Matiu Rata had envisioned but let's be fair the experience and knowledge of kaumatua is so precious please don't kaka on that all you newbies and hoha heki pirau. Nga mihi nui Shane Kia tau te mauri me te atawhai i runga i a koutou i tenei waa.

I hope after Waitangi is finished we can all move on together and focus on this subject matter all together as one and put the hard questions to luxon just what or what tangible gains is hoping to get out of this nonsense ... And will he confirm that there may or perhaps will be major consequences for all New Zealanders that will likely suffer for his confirmation on signing this one off... Will he own this mistake... This is the worst racial slinging I have seen in NZ for many years, and it is now being talked about across the globe; people are now forced to pick sides, many people swayed by paid online social media influencers. I was happy the way it was... didn't affect or bother me as a non Maori New Zealander.

    What is the contra proferentem rule NZ?
    "Contra proferentem", a self-serving argument used by treatyists, is a doctrine of contractual interpretation providing that, where a promise, agreement or term is ambiguous, the preferred meaning should be the one that works against the interests of the party who provided the wording.

    • @DrBojangles007
      @DrBojangles007 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s a legal doctrine, not a “argument used by treatyists” whatever that means. And Te Tiriti was the document the chiefs (around 500) signed

    I made an official complaint recently to Parliament about these press conferences in which the questions being asked (half the conversation ) are inaudible to listeners because journalists seem to have forgotten a fundamental part of their training.

      'Interesting' how few people seem to have been bothered by this rather fundamental flaw.
      New Zealanders have become inured to accepting a very low standard from our Fourth Estate ( journalists ).
      Also , if you're trying to focus on the questions, it's hard to know whether they're NOT asking the ones that they should be asking - but most likely aren't. Journalists who rise to the top create the narrative and steer attention away from any aspect that seriously undermines or threatens the status quo and holds it to account.
      This interview was just political entertainment.
