If you follow a line from the two stars at the end of the pan section, not the handle, the first bright star you come across is the North Star*. Good tip if you're ever out at night in a cloudless sky and you haven't got a compass or your mobile 'phone that'll have a built in GPS to find where you are. 😀 Good set of _"annoyingly knowable but can't drag out from the greymatter"_ questions 👍 * Spookily enough, I've just been looking at the paused still picture of that question and the dot above the "i" in Big Dipper is where you'd find the North Star in real life!

As a boy scout and also in CCF back in the 80's several times we had to use the stars at night for navigating, good to know about where the North Star is, fun times back then.. I know you like your computer games, I think that DayZ has a working night sky navigation mod on some servers as well... 😊
@@AtoZTrivia I've not DayZ'ed for years. I used to have everyone on my friends list as DayZ players. We used to use TeamSpeak back then and I could jump into DayZ anytime during the day and there would be a friend, somewhere, playing DayZ. But you're right. They did/still do(?) map the sky so at night. I'd be able to lead out team across the map at night and they'd be staring at the stars trying to figure out how I did it. But no one I know plays that game now. Like the Zombies in the game, they all left too.
