(Serbian language!)
i sent a note last time that was erased. if you look at Pinchas Pinchik Rozos Shalom you will hear this kind of cantorial music that is really middle eastern sounding and very very moving. I listen to Ostad Lotfi, Shajarian, Nazeri, and all the old guys. The best. Salaam again. Its easy to get frustrated and mix up feeling victimized unfairly with blaming and stereotyping the "other." We all can do it. Lets celebrate diversity. cheers.
Chaim Adler is another contemporary cantor. Interestingly, he is Helfgot's (the cantor singing in the clip above) uncle. Adler has a a more robust voice than Helfgot.
Pallathur1917 please accept my apology if I offended you or the others in anyway or form i am a secular person as well, I I believe we can find bad good people in all races and countries.shalom
He doesn't have the voice of Chaim Adler. Late night service is no excuse for performances that are routinely sung mechanically without warmth and emotion. I am not on the Moshe Koussevitzky bandwagon, but please compare the two singing the same piece. MK had a robust and thrilling voice and sang with dynamics and drama. This is not an easy selection to sing, and Helfgot sang it capably as if he were rehearsing the notes. There was no real intonation or expression like the masters of old.
Pallathur19171) l may have rash in to judgment and if I offended any one I apologize. However correct me if I am wrong only religious Jews listen to this religious music2)I am not anti-Semitic by any measure , Jews resided in Iran as old as 4000 years so they have deep root in Iran even before Esther. And denying holocaust is like denying sun that was a tragedy for entire humanity but this should give a right to treat other inhumanely and I have feeling you agree with it.
I agree he isn't as good as Chaim Adler, but "horrible" is a bit harsh... at the end of midnight selichot, nobody is going to sound their best, myself included.
Kurosh-joon. Well, first, you were listening to this music, and i am a socialist secular jew and i was listening to it...i would point out that when you say God gave up on the Jews, dont you think that is both offensive and Judeophobic, even if it comes somehow from Koran? Lets not debate religion, but you jumped very quickly into some really strong things. Yes, Jews roots in Iran and infact the entire Arab world go back before Islam, and, outside the pennisula, the Arabs themselves.
and iranians are just saints who treat everyone great? iranians are racists against arabs and afghanis, big time, who are you kidding? not yourself i hope.

Funny - perhaps it was the music, not the performance that moved you. I found it remarkably unmoving
