This is the part where Bryan Cranston to get in gear without Malcolm In The Middle And Breaking Bad to create another sequel from the movie Total Recall and I’ll try to savor it.
The main problem is that people already know what is going on. Audience know who is Quaid and why Cohaagen is after him, or who is lori. While the 1990 got that mystery around, and keep us guessing what was happen. Plus, most people were expecting some elements, like the mutants, mars and think like that. 2012 goes in a different line, which people didnt like. Apparently is more close to source material, but, in the mind of people the 1990 version is the original. So they got disappointed. Personally i do enjoy this version for what it is specially seeing Lori just a killing machine...
They really toned down the Coohagen character for the remake. Instead of a ruthless scary corporate head they gave us a generic villain. And they had a good actor for the part.
I like this Total Recall better. The other one took place on Mars. Why? Why would there be a reason for it to be about Mars? It made no sense to me. Or maybe that's just because I saw this version first
The original was edgy, didn’t shy away from violence and there was a lot of dark humor. The remake is bland, forgettable, unoriginal, takes itself way too seriously and Schwarzenegger gets replaced by Beta Male Collin Farrell.

How can nobody like the 2012 Total Recall? It's great. Loads of action and clever nods and references to the 1990 film.
