Backgammon Grandmaster Marc Olsen plays a 5-point match on the Backgammon Galaxy mobile app, sharing his thoughts while playing. A golden opportunity for you to learn a trick or two about the game!
Hi Marc I think your opponent should get a vip membership for participating in this video 😉. but seriously, I'm flattered to be on the video. I had many loughes during this match. Thank you, I'm enjoying using the app. My rating was more than 2000 a few times but on a daily base I enjoy swimming in shallow water.
Thank you! Great format for learning. One request though...for future videos (please keep them coming!) if you could have the camera facing straight at the screen, rather than on the angle, it would be much easier for those of us with impaired vision to stay focused on the action on the board. Thanks again!
Thank you Marc!!! Nothing is so instructive as hearing you analyze a match. Your delivery, passion, and attitude towards the game and learning are second to none, and I've learned more from you than anyone. Yes more of these videos please! Would love to also see them for money (coin) games as well. :) That being said... If I may humbly offer a tech opinion (I work in video). Maybe be more straight on with the tv so the angles are not as skewed for the viewer (as long as dithering is not a problem)? And... while the art direction and wardrobe selection are truly inspired, perhaps just the screen ratio could be tweaked a tad? More tv... less living room? Just my opinion. Thanks for listening... and everything else. :)
Love your analysis videos…very helpful to an intermediate player like myself…you’re a great player (obviously) and a great teacher…that combination doesn’t always go hand in hand. PS: I love my high quality Galaxy Neptune travel board…next purchase is to get one of your regular sized, great looking “magnetic skin” boards. PPS: Thank you for everything you do to promote the great game of backgammon!
I've just bought "Backgammon : From basics to badass" by Marc Olsen, for two reasons : - it's a book I need as a beginner - it's a way to thank Marc for all the stuff he posts for free online Did you know that in the french translation, "badass" is translated" by "dur-à-cuire" which litteraly means "hard-to-bake" ?
@@BackgammonGalaxy Galaxy sucks. MO is a money hungry pig. I just lost over 500 coins on the website because it says I was in a match that I couldn't even get into. To bad, MO used to be an ambassador for the game now he is in it just for the money. Galaxy is finished (I Hope)
On Backgammon Galaxy you play for Galaxy Coins. This is not real money. It's in-game currency ("Funny Money" as it's also called). You can buy Galaxy Coins for real money though. A common practise for virtually all mobile games, as a way to keep the game running (server costs, employees, development etc).
Hey Galaxy team! I was just wondering is there any chance you could purchase avatars with XP in the future instead of just coins. I want the Dr. Manhattan avatar like I had on the old site but I’ll never get 1 million coins. Thanks!
Marc is playing on the app. Next to the TV there's a laptop connected to the TV with a browser window containing the match (spectator mode). This is why Marc is not the bottom player.

Not that it would matter much but.. This isn't a random player. Someone's playing on the computer which is connected to the TV which also explains why Mr. Olsen is also seen as the opponent here and has his end zone at the top.

Fight for the 5 point at the start of the game. After a few moves, the game plan is chosen : it's to run or hold the game, Marc says it, he absolutely doesn't want to be hit anymore. So he won't strip the 8 point.
@@pausesmaths3086 Nonsense !! because 1 or 2 moves later he makes the 5 and leaves the 7point slotted So your point is totally wrong. He either wasn't focused and made a mistake or he doesn't know what he is doing

Glad you liked it!
Such an interesting and comfortable format for your very helpful play-by-plays.
Thank you, Marc!
We're happy you enjoy it! We will create more of these video in the future, so stay tuned!
Thanks for sharing Marc, instructive as always.

Thank you so much for your support David! We really appreciate it. See you in the app!
Have you noticed that the lights in the room are in the same color as the board ?
Thanks for noticing :) We did that intentionally to create a more coherent look.
Is it possible to get to the screen with all the matches like in the beginning of the video on the mobile app?
No. This is only available on desktop for now.

Rigged dice at the end! 😀 Great video, nice interior!
Thanks! 👍
I literally cannot even get into a match anymore
Galaxy is finished
We had a bug that was causing this issue. We found out why and it will be fixed. Galaxy is not finished ;-)

Why doesn't Terje have a youtube channel?
Ask him. We are not associated with Terje.

Why is the game upside down?

Nice Interior design ❤
Probably Wilson's hand.
Thank you Gigi. Wilson here. We filmed the video in my apartment in Portugal.
why does it show that youre going from bottom right to top right instead of from top right to bottom right lmfaoo its backwards!!!!

Who's the grandmaster? He didn't show up for the sharing!
Marc Olsen. It's the person in the video.

It could be a random player. When you spectate a bg game your friend won't always be on the bottom.

I'm the other player.
nobody could be more randomly than me.
The view on the TV is obviously in spectator mode (from a laptop)

Your move : 24/20 8/5 : + 0.048
Marc's move : 24/20 5/2 : +0.032 (-0.016).
not the best format for learning, just show us the board, the rest is just egotism
What do you mean? The board is literally being shown 100% of the time :-D
It's on an angle, it should fill the screen it's the only thing we need to see.@@BackgammonGalaxy
