This was a transcendent experience! It makes this native Cincinnatian swell with pride. I think, speaking historically, that Cincinnati benefited greatly from the influx in the 19th century of people from New York and other Eastern cities. Remember, Cincinnati eclipsed Chicago until the city fathers made the fateful, irrevocable error of "sticking with the river" instead of seeing the future was RAIL. Cincinnati has had a tough history with rails. Our own unfinished subway bears continued, if hidden, testimony, to that myopic tendency we have seemed to be plagued with.
But such is NOT the case with our parks, I am more than happy to say. A splendid documentary and THANK YOU for posting!!

And Cincinnati benefited off the influences of Kentucky & The Virginias too with Upper Southern/Appalachian culture too. Alot of people came up here from the south for a better life to escape jim crow and poverty because Cincinnati was a boomtown in the early days. 💯

@@RudolphManor Quite right Rudolph, and shame on me for not mentioning that, especially since my maternal Grandma came to Cincinnati from Hazard, KY to work in the factories during WWII. Once she got her feet on the ground she sent for my mom.
Price Hill is still predominantly Appalachian in it's makeup.
So, my amended comment is--- The Eastern influence gave the Queen City it's big institutions, Music Hall, etc and the gritty never say die folks of the hills and the holler of KY. and W. VA who gave the city it's work ethic (and let's not forget the Germans before them).

@@RudolphManor"Although segregation boundaries loosened during the 1950s and 1960s, few Blacks (due to a lack of job prospects) possessed the necessary resources to move into better neighborhoods...By the year 2000, Cincinnati was considered the country’s eighth most racially segregated city..."

not investing in rail wasnt the issue, the issue was the hard undeniable fact that the people who "own" the country aka the only people are technically supposed to be allowed to serve in high government(rich europeans/european loyalists) decided their loyalty belonged to the ruling class of europe instead of the working class who built everything they profited from.. thats why it went from being absurdly unacceptable to pay workers less than what they'd need to remain alive to being the main mode of employment to expect them to not complain about only being compensated 1/10 the cost of living while producing literally 10 - 20x more profit than any workers before in history...

Fun fact, People plant paw paw tree seeds in all the Cincinnati parks, the fruit of paw Paws develop very quickly and the fruit is usually goes in days (and raccoons get them) The trees have grown rarer but recent efforts should yield "fruit" in a few years.
