- This video is continued from vlog #3 where we started digging footings and had the soils tests started. We finally determined the required depth to get our footings to 2,500 PSF and in this video we accomplish just that.
The intro music "The Artisan Way" was written for my channel by insanedrummer89

Good video! Thanks!
Very interesting.. Thanks.
Very cool.
@ristin59 In this particular area the land prices are not too bad. This property is not on top of the ridge but still has a decent view. Thanks!
Thanks!
@TheRobertdavie The footings I showed first meet code for our area. The frost line is only 4 inches hear. I wanted to make sure the home did not settle so I called in the soils engineer and sure enough we had to go deeper. Thanks!
Two good ones, you had people that explainned things. So you are saying it would have passed code with shallow footings?
@aaadream We finally got down to the red clay when we dug the second time. Thanks!
I thought that wider footings can compensate for poor soil penetration numbers. You just have to cut wider with the back-hoe, and install rebar crosswise.
@FirearmPop Thank you!
Good video but is something about safety the test guy is in the footing and is more the 4' deep is dangerous .
I bet it cost big bucks to build near a national park like Missionary Ridge.
I could have bought that lot in 2010 for 35k. And it has a great view!
